Altos de Majagual This page has been created to connect the neighbours of Altos de Majagual. At the foot of the mountain Cerro Cabra lies the community Altos de Majagual.

Together with neighbors in Veracruz and Panama City we defeated the mining corporation Canteras del Istmo S.A. which was going to destroy the top of the mountain with an open pit quarry extracting 500 truckloads of crushed stone per day for 20 years. Victory was won when the mining concession was declared illegal by the Supreme Court of Panama (Gaceta Oficial No 27946 January 12th 2016) and the oficial at the Ministry of Environment who passed the Environmental Impact Assessment for the quarry was fined. We will now work together to keep mining away from Cerro Cabra and to create a safe environment for the local community and farmers.
