Peace Corps Panama Follow to learn more about our Peace Corps Volunteers, our projects, and the beautiful culture of Panama.

The Peace Corps traces its roots and mission to 1960, when then Senator John F. Kennedy challenged students at the University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in developing countries. From that inspiration grew an agency of the federal government devoted to world peace and friendship. Since that time, more than 225,000 Americans of all ages have respon

ded to Kennedy’s call to serve and have helped communities in 141 countries to work on issues ranging from AIDS education to information technology and environmental preservation. Today's Peace Corps is more vital than ever, working in emerging and essential areas such as information technology and business development, and contributing to the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. Peace Corps Volunteers continue to help countless individuals who want to build a better life for themselves, their children, and their communities. Comment Policy:

A grant project by Volunteer Libby and her community to build new latrines and offer hygiene education led to something unexpected and inspiring. The women in the community proposed training to recycle cloth into reusable menstrual pads and diapers — a way to use their existing sewing skills, cut down on single‑use products, and reduce household costs. What began as a sanitation project grew into a creative, community‑driven solution for sustainability.
