Yesterday, made a small donation of relief supplies as part of the Government of Panama’s humanitarian aid drive at the Parque Omar Collection Centre coordinated by the First Lady of Panama, Mrs. Maricel Cohen de Mulino.

The Barbados Embassy in Panama - Embajada de Barbados en Panamá commends the officials, first responders, volunteers and agencies working tirelessly to deliver urgent humanitarian aid and support to those most impacted by the October 9 earthquake in Panama.

Recovery for the families and communities impacted by this seismic event will take time and resources. Barbados stands with our Panamanian neighbours 🇧🇧 🤝 🇵🇦

Barbadian nationals currently in Panama are advised to:

* Follow all instructions and safety guidance issued by the Panamanian authorities.
* Remain alert to the possibility of further aftershocks and avoid buildings or structures that appear damaged.
* Monitor official local news and updates from the relevant emergency management authorities.
* Confirm the status of flights and other travel arrangements directly with airlines and service providers.
* Keep essential travel documents secure and ensure that emergency arrangements and travel insurance are adequate.
* Maintain contact with family members in Barbados and inform them of their whereabouts, where possible.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados advises Barbadian nationals to exercise heightened caution when travelling to or within the Republic of Panama following recent seismic activity and continuing aftershocks.

Aftershocks continue to be reported, and the situation remains subject to ongoing assessment by the relevant authorities. In light of these developments, Barbadians are encouraged to reconsider non-essential travel to Panama at this time and to remain informed of the evolving situation before making travel arrangements.

The Ministry further wishes to advise that the Embassy of Barbados in Panama City is currently operating with reduced capacity to respond to consular matters. Consequently, consular assistance may be limited or delayed during this period.

We are grateful for the initial reports that no lives have been lost or injuries sustained. But we know that even where lives are spared, the fear, uncertainty and disruption experienced by families and communities are very real.

At moments such as these, we are reminded that our shared humanity must always be greater than the borders that separate us.

Panama is our neighbour, and Barbados stands ready to assist in whatever way we can. To the families affected and the first responders working to protect communities, know that you are not alone.

Sinckler engaged in a productive meeting with the Superintendent of Insurance and Reinsurance of Panama Luis Enrique Bandera and Deputy Superintendent Katherine Arjona aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and dialogue in the insurance sector.

In Colón, Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Hon. Christopher P. Sinckler had a constructive conversation with senior officials from the Administration of the Colón Free Zone (CFZ), including

✅ Mr. Javier Grimaldo, Deputy General Manager;
✅ Mr. Josimar Ortiz, Marketing Director; and
✅ Ms. Krystal Demera, Investment Promoter.

The Senior Minister and CFZ officials examined ways to strengthen commercial links and expand supply chain options between Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa by way of Barbados and Panama.

Senator Sinckler underlined the need to grow bilateral trade between Barbados and Panama and invited a delegation from the CFZ to Barbados to continue the discussion.

En Colón, el Ministro Principal de Relaciones Exteriores y Comercio Exterior, Senador el Hon. Christopher P. Sinckler mantuvo una conversación constructiva con altos funcionarios de la Administración de la Zona Libre Colón (ZLC), entre ellos:
