The Sultanate of Oman’s Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) in collaboration with Al Nimr International Exhibitions Organizers LLC (Al Nimr Conferences), is organized the inaugural Civil Defence Symposium & Expo 2014 under the theme “Industrial Fire: Prevention & Containment” which took place from 3-5 March, coinciding with the International Civil Defence Day. y are the two main factors in promoting economic stability in a country. Under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, Oman is witnessing a glorious era in economic development and industrial growth across major sectors, particularly the oil & gas, construction, manufacturing, free zones, transportation, power and energy. Together with this rapid development, the growing issues with regard to fire safety and increasing number of fire incidents especially in high-risk industries have brought major concerns to the government authorities. It is, therefore, imperative to engage the concerned authorities and the industry in discussing new and innovative strategies and proactive steps to prevent, combat and contain fire hazards that can threaten life and property. This three-day conference aims to bring together regional and international senior officials from the civil defence, industrial emergency response leaders and experts to discuss and share how the latest technologies, adherence to global standards & procedures in fire safety will help in addressing these challenges facing both the authorities and industries.
