The band performed at the RNZPBA National championships on Saturday 21/03 in the Street March as a guest band. With 12 Pipers, 4 sides, 2 tenors, a base and our Drum Major the band turned out 20 strong and did itself proud. Even though not competing it's the first national competition the band has performed in for approx 20 years. Thanks to everyone for making the effort, hard work and looking sharp. We had heaps of good comments and feedback. Maybe next year we might even make it into the competition circle... you never know. Big thanks to all our helpers on the day as well.

The band had the pleasure of supporting the Limited Service Volunteers (LSV) graduation this weekend at Trentham. It was great to support so many young people undertaking this type of training and development.

This past weekend the band supported 5/7 Battalion commemorate the 110th anniversary of the battle of Chunuk Bair. Our Pipe Major and Pipe Sergeant played for the annual service held at the Malone gates in Stratford on Friday morning with officers and soldiers, both current and past in attendance. Then on Saturday the band along with 7th Battalion Band performed during the commemorative service held at Trentham base. Members also attended the formal evening dinner to celebrate the Battalion's birthday.

The band had a great morning in Hawera performing alongside Hawera Highland, Stratford and Districts, and Taranaki Caledonian Pipe Bands. Congratulations to Hawera on their Centenary anniversary, to mark the occasion we presented Hawera with a commemorative plaque which came out really nice. Thanks to all 5WWCT who could make it, the band performed really well and the rain held off until we finished!

We're excited to be heading out to Hawera today with other Bands throughout the Taranaki Region to celebrate Hawera Pipe Bands Centenary! Should be a great day with all Bands playing throughout the morning at the Hawera Town Square wet weather venue the community centre hall.
