Here are a few simple steps to stay ahead this winter:
✔ Check your prescriptions and renew early
✔ Book your flu vaccination
✔ Know where to go for care — GP, pharmacy, or after-hours
✔ Have a plan for managing long-term conditions

Being prepared means less stress, faster support, and better health outcomes when it matters most.

If you’re unsure where to start, we’re here to help.

Got a health issue but not sure what care you need? There are several options available, depending on your situation.

📱 Healthline | 0800 611 116
A great first option if you are unsure what kind of care you need. Healthline nurses can help you decide what to do next. You can share photos or video to help explain your symptoms, and use the call‑back option if you do not want to wait on hold. Visit healthy.org.nz.

📱 Ka Ora | 0800 252 672
For people living rurally. Call any time to speak with a nurse for free. If needed, Ka Ora can arrange a video appointment with a doctor. This may involve a cost. Children and community services card holders are subsidised.

👩🏽‍⚕️ Your usual doctor or nurse
If your GP or practice is open, contact them first. They can often see you quickly if your issue is urgent.

💻 Online GP
Book a video consultation with a New Zealand‑qualified doctor, available 24/7. No waiting rooms. Children and Community Services Card holders are subsidised. Visit healthnz.govt.nz/online-phone-healthcare/online-gp-care.

👨🏽‍⚕️ Urgent care clinics
If you need in‑person care, visit or call an urgent care clinic. Find your closest at healthpoint.co.nz.

💊 Community pharmacies
Your local pharmacy can offer advice and treatment for many minor conditions, including coughs, colds, cuts, rashes and more.
