Come on in and have your say on one of the biggest changes local government has faced: the Head Start pathway. The government has given councils across NZ a three-month window to develop proposals to reorganise local government in their regions.
You can find out more information and take the survey to have your say on this important change here: https://www.whanganui.govt.nz/Your-Council/Have-Your-Say/Consultations/Head-Start-what-matters-most?utm_content=buffereb1c4&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer
If you would like to fill in a survey in hard-copy you can do so here at the Alex!
Submissions close at the end of the week!

The government wants to simplify local government and has asked councils across New Zealand to develop proposals for how they could merge with others. We want to hear from our community on what matters most.

Bring the mokopuna to the Davis Library Wed 17 June at 10am, to hear about our own celebrity bird. Tania Te Huna will share her children's book about the Kuaka (Bar tailed Godwit) "ADJ". ADJ makes an epic journey from the Whanganui River Estuary to Alaska every year via Korea and Japan and then returns home.
Taikura o te Awa Tupua will sing the waiata composed by Tania for the Kuaka.

Busy day in the Alex yesterday! We were excited to host lots of wonderful local rangatahi for a heritage think tank as part of the Rangatahi Tech Expo. We wanted to hear what they would do to bring our Biographical Index into the digital age. The biographical index is one of our most powerful tools for researching whakapapa and Whanganui family history. They gave us lots of great ideas and we love working together with our community in this way!
