Serving our Whanau!!!! The way we know best!!!!

We are very thankful for what has been a trying week for our whanau and those that we serve at the time of the year where things are meant to be joyous, and fun filled. A time of the year when it's supposedly time to wrap up for the year. In actual fact we have always prepared to ramp up over the period knowing the struggles our whanau go through to be a ear to listen and shoulder to comfort.

This year and the coming year will be no different, it will be to the grind to ensure we continue to encourage that there is a better side to life, not only in what we see. We are thankful for all those that support us, those that are understanding us and especially the whanau who we have supported and seeing the transition they have made for the betterment of themselves and their whanau. Its very rewarding for us to see the change. But this doesn’t come just by working office hours, this comes by answering the phone at 2am in the morning, knowing that we are there for the whanau. It takes some robust discussions, but everything we do is done with absolute aroha.

The WWM roopu are a remarkable roopu, go outside any sense of the ‘normal’ job because their heart is in it for the whanau. Thankful for our roopu who have gone above and beyond all year, especially in the last 7 days without a break because that’s what it is needed in times like this to bring peace.

WWM is built on Whanau, the voice of Whanau, the connection of whanau and most of all, the love for Whanau. We are not your typical organisation or Hauora, we are a movement of whanau and go where the whanau call us to go whether it be in uncertain and or good times. We are not a lip service but talk truth which has substance in the way we do our mahi. We don’t fall under pressure, we build when the pressure is on. When you are a Kaupapa such as ours, we are judged by our works and or not what people think of us. The noise doesn’t distract us!!! We don’t buy in to what’s happening politically, righteousness will outweigh all those things in terms of the movement. Movement driven by our whanau is unbreakable.

Like all of us, we all have our challenges and are tested, but what makes it easier is when you have someone to reach out too. That’s exactly who WWM are, a people you can reach out to and get the support you require. We don’t get it right always, but our intent is true and real.

Kia tupato whanau, don’t get caught up in the world, it will only trap you from the person you are called to be and the true light that you are!!!

'KO TE WHANAU TE RITO'

We are the light for the many whanau we support and serve. The mahi is real, a calling and mandate in our space to do things outside the box and not conform to a process.

Our whanau need real and authentic support and its mamae to see our people being a numbers game or what some call a tick in the ‘box’ which is still happening across our communities. To be honest its shocking and appalling!!!!!!

The s # # # we do, you wouldn’t even comprehend. Our approach stops police and other agencies from even having to intervene and stopping our tamariki from being uplifted. The mahi that happens after hours to stop others from being hurt is real for WWM. Our roopu is built for the streets and they know every nock and cranny!!!!! Lived Experience to the core.

Nothing will ever pay enough for what WWM do, stopping harm and all other elements through our upfront and up the guts approach. And we will continue to do that, without people piggy backing on what we do. Truth is, they cant do what we do!!!!!

Keep it real whanau, that’s who we are!!!!! For whanau by whanau.

Keeping our mahi grassroots is our call to action. As a movement of Kaupapa, we are tested daily from those who simply love to have control of people. Many of those that support us are on the move for the better and are being educated by the way WWM mahi, it leaves them liberated. But some are still stuck in a controlling mindset and when they find themselves being challenged, they simply don’t like it. A reminder to all, treat people with dignity and not like animals. Power is with the people, not an apparatus who still want control.
WWM advocate and support people of all walks, however, there are some privileged people that don’t like our approach and narrative. Hard luck to those people, our word is our word. Our whanau for to long have been trapped by the system, and we are here to support and advocate for them in helping to ‘free’ them from a system that chews and spits people out.
To those agencies who support our mahi, we thank you on behalf of our people.
WWM will only grow stronger with each challenge and those who try to push back, we encourage you to find a better way in dealing with people. We are here for the people!!!

As most wind into the year, it’s been an extremely hectic start for us, not the start we wanted. Our roopu have been attending to our whanau living on the fringe who have been living under trees, dealing with historic issues, deescalating, and stopping harm, dealing with acute mental health issues, stopping suicides just to name a few. We go above and beyond the call of duty.

One thing we pride ourselves on is being there when whanau are in real need. We are not there to be abused, nor are we there to be subjected too violent behaviour. We are simply the wrong Kaupapa to offer violence too, if you read between the lines. Violence towards our roopu is simply the wrong move.

What we do across several regions and communities, no one else can do!!!!! True fact!!! We go tooth and nail for our whanau and walk into some very dark places to bring light and life.

Thank you to those in the community that also acknowledge our roopu and show respect that is rightfully deserved through hard hard mahi.

We look forward to continuing to serve our communities across the regions.

Merry Christmas to all our whanau across the Waiariki and South Waikato

Its been a privilege for our roopu to serve you all.

We know for some this can be time of the year which presents real pressure which can lead to making decisions that are not favorable.

Although, it’s the festive season our roopu are still working around the clock to keep our whanau safe across many regions. There is no such thing in our space as public holidays. If the whanau need us, we're there, simple!!!

Lets keep an eye on each other during this period, the true fact it’s a real struggle for many.

Its been a while since we last posted and during this time our roopu have been extremely busy. Although, the mahi can be tough at times, what drives us is ‘Whanau’. Whanau underpin everything we do.

We are at a time in the season where things can become strenuous and can cause us to make decisions that we later regret. Our roopu are very accessible and you can reach out to us any time of the day or night.

We do things very differently at WWM, our whanau deserve the best and we do our best to ensure our whanau are taken good care of.

If there is anything that you need help with please reach out. We will find some way in which to help you and the whanau.

What a phenomenal day in Kawerau today with our Whanau. In the pouring rain, whanau came from everywhere.

Amazing Hauora Day and equity as its best. Well done our Kawerau Whanau.
