On 2 June 2026, we celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic 🇮🇹 in the beautiful setting of the “Dominion Museum Building”, in Wellington.

A memorable evening enhanced by the performance of the Italian and New Zealand national Anthems by soprano Charlotte Secker, and speeches from Ambassador of Italy in Wellington Cristiano Maggipinto and the Deputy Secretary for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Australia Paula Wilson, who represented the New Zealand Government. Both emphasised the excellent state of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Guests were immersed in a celebration of Italian excellence, surrounded by some of the most iconic symbols of Made in Italy. A stunning display featuring four Ferraris, an Alfa Romeo, a Fiat Abarth, a Vespa, and a Moto Guzzi added a distinctive touch to the event, showcasing the innovation, craftsmanship, and design that have made Italian engineering admired around the world.

We are delighted to collaborate with New Zealand Opera in celebrating the richness of Italian language!

We want to take a moment to thank the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Sydney and the Italian Embassy in Wellington for providing Italian surtitles for our production of The Marriage of Figaro.

It will now be possible to follow the opera's original language, as well as the translated meaning, in real time in the theatre!

We are delighted to celebrate Italy’s rich operatic tradition, recognised on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2023.

Grazie mille to our partners for helping us highlight Lorenzo Da Ponte's libretto and the beautiful Italian language of this opera. Non è meraviglioso!

Today, 2/06/2026, we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic established following the 1946 Referendum that marked the democratic choice of the Italian people in the aftermath of the Second World War.

This historic milestone not only gave birth to the Republic but also marked a major step forward for civil rights in Italy: for the first time, Italian women were granted the right to vote and to participate fully in shaping the country’s future.

As we celebrate 80 years of the Republic, we also honor the democratic values, freedom, and equality that continue to inspire Italy today.

The “Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production” of the University of Naples Federico II will launch, starting from the next academic year, a new English-taught Degree Program in Veterinary Medicine.

📣This is the second Veterinary Medicine program taught entirely in English in Italy, alongside the one offered by Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna and represents an important educational opportunity for international students seeking high-level academic training in veterinary sciences.

The course is a five-year degree program and is subject to limited enrolment, with admission limited to just 20 students each year.

On the occasion of its screening in the framework of the “Architecture & Design Film Festival 2026”, Ambassador Maggipinto will introduce the documentary “The house of Cini Boeri” on June 1st.

“The House of Cini Boeri” tells the story of the intense life and brilliant work of architect and designer Cini Boeri, through the places she lived, the testimonies of those who knew her well, and the works she created. The house of Cini Boeri is the home of a courageous protagonist of the 20th century—a pioneer, both in her choices and her designs, of a new way of living that helped revolutionise the role of women in the family, in work, and in society. "The House of Cini Boeri" is also the home of a strong-willed, charismatic matriarch of a large family that lovingly and devotedly preserves her memory.

On May 25th, Ambassador Maggipinto attended the “Hokusai exhibition” organised and hosted by the Japanese Embassy.

The exhibition, dedicated to Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji by Katsushika Hokusai, featured a beautifully preserved complete set of all 46 prints from this iconic series. The display was accompanied by maps, captions, and subtitled curator talks from Ota Memorial Museum of Art.

It was a great pleasure to experience this remarkable exhibition, which celebrated one of Japan’s most iconic artists, guided by H.E. the Ambassador of Japan.

On May 24th, our Honorary Consul in Auckland, Cav. Lindsey Jones hosted a recital.
Tenor Christopher McRae delighted the audience with classical Italian songs by Leoncavallo, Donizetti, Tosti, as well as selections from musical theatre.

Luiss Business School has launched a new call for applications for 20 scholarships including a quota reserved for international students to attend the Full-time Master’s Degree Programme in Business Administration; an intensive programme that enables participants to develop a business strategy that includes creativity, international orientation, ethics and social responsibility, and to face the new challenges of worldwide leaders.

• The programme is open to students from around the world who wish to achieve a crucial managerial specialization developing skills, competencies and a high self-awareness to succeed in the global economy.
