Changemakers Resettlement Forum

Changemakers Resettlement Forum We work towards our vision of New Zealanders from refugee backgrounds participating fully in New Zealand life.

ChangeMakers Resettlement Forum is a grassroots non-governmental
organisation (NGO) walking alongside 18+ refugee background communities
in the greater Wellington region (Aotearoa New Zealand). We do this through community development, research and advocacy using a rights-based approach. For more information visit our website: www.crf.org.nz

🌟 *Future Leaders Network Retreat – A Vision Brought to Life* 🌟

Over the past three days, we had the privilege of bringing together an incredible group of emerging leaders at our Future Leaders Network Retreat, held at Silverstream Retreat and organised by ChangeMakers Resettlement Forum as part of the Meaningful Refugee Participation (MRP) initiative.

What makes this gathering especially meaningful is that it began with a vision. The MRP Steering Group identified a gap within our communities and imagined a space where refugee-background leaders could come together to connect, learn, grow, and support one another. Seeing that vision come to life has been truly inspiring.

The retreat brought together a diverse group of participants with different experiences, backgrounds, ages, and leadership journeys. It was amazing to witness the genuine connections that formed, the stories that were shared, and the collective commitment to creating positive change in our communities.

We genuinely struggle to find the words to capture how authentic, empowering, and enriching this experience has been. The success of this retreat is a testament to each and every participant who showed up with openness, courage, and a willingness to learn from one another.

To all our Future Leaders: we believe in you, we hear you, and we encourage you to keep moving forward on your leadership journeys. Your voices matter, your experiences are valuable, and your leadership has the power to make a difference.

Thank you for making this retreat such a memorable and inspiring experience. This is only the beginning. 💙

We’re looking for volunteer driving mentors to support former refugees as they learn to drive. If you’re patient, friendly, enjoy meeting people from around the world, and love being behind the wheel, this could be a wonderful fit for you.

You’ll be fully trained (training scheduled for 27 June) and supported, and a dual control practice car is provided. It’s a rewarding way to make a real difference in someone’s life and help them build independence in Aotearoa.

To find out more or to apply, please contact [email protected].

Check it out! As proud members of the Driving Change Network, the 2026 Election Manifesto has just been released.
It lays out our Network's key policy platform for a fair, connected and future-focused driver licensing ecosystem in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Driver licensing access is essential social and economic infrastructure. It supports employment, education, whānau wellbeing, community participation and safer roads.

Tati has sat both her restricted and full licence with ChangeMakers. She is so happy to never have to sit another test! She is grateful to ChangeMakers and Levin Driving School for giving her the skills and confidence to pass first time one each test. She is now able to travel outside of Levin for all her children's sports events and visit other friends in Palmerston North or Wellington. Independence is so important for yourself esteem. 🤩
