When somebody reports smoke, we get turned out and must find the fire and check it’s alright. If you are lighting a big fire, you can now report it in advance. That will save us a trip, and you the hassle of a big red truck showing up with flashing lights and siren.

Waitati Brigade is looking for new members! You'll never get as much satisfaction from your spare time as you will helping someone who needs a hand. We do fires, accidents, rescues and lots of medical calls from locals in true need.

Backing us up is world-class training and equipment and supportive and caring team mates - across the country. Once you've joined FENZ you've got trusting mates in every village and city in New Zealand.

We train once a week and we only turn out to calls if we are available.

We need firefighters. But we also need people who want to focus on the medical calls. It's a specialization all of its own. It's not all CPR and broken limbs. The best and most common first aid we provide is just holding a hand while the ambulance comes. At the other end of the scale, we can and do save lives!

You don't need to be super fit, you don't need to be a physically strong person and you don't need to be a hero. All we need is people who care about other people. That's the only rule.

If you've ever wondered, just come down and kick the firetruck tyres. We're there every Monday night from 7:00PM.
