Hi everyone, wishing you health and happiness in 2022. Just a heads up that I won't be running a nature programme these holidays. I hope to be back in April for a couple of days if I can manage to squeeze it into my busy life! In the meantime, enjoy this glorious weather and stay safe. Arohanui, Anna xx

Fridays For Future
It's definitely time to up our love affair with Nature. Any child who is lucky enough to have family or teachers in their lives who make sure the child has time in Nature has the chance to bond with the natural world. So much depends on people who love the Earth being prepared to push for the changes which will ensure a future.

2 wonderful days at Kaitawa this week, with gorgeous tamariki totally up for immersing themselves in nature play (and occasionally the river, literally!). Boat races, kawakawa tea, hut building, river clay and much more. It was so good to be back, thank you to all the families who joined us. See you in July 😊

Hi Everyone, Kakariki Nature Play will not be running a holiday programme these holidays. I am having a break, mostly for personal reasons and also partly because of the ongoing uncertainty. But we will be back in 2021! With the weather warming up (a little!) it will be easier to get the kids outside, so enjoy the wonderful Kapiti Coast environment that we have and we'll see you in the new year ###

What a glorious day at Nga Manu today! Kids had a ball making swings, harakeke weaving and lighting our fire with flints. Oh, and we had baked potatoes with baked beans for lunch, yum! Check out this cute story - Big 'un teaches little 'un, who teaches the next little 'un, and pretty soon they are all having a go! We did actually light both fires with the flints today, but unfortunately didn't get it on camera, too busy having fun with the flints :)

Dream Catching

I feel so lucky to live on this beautiful coast where my son and I can play every day on the beach, in the estuary, by the river, in forests. We are surrounded by creativity, and every time we visit our little part of the beach, we find something new. This beautiful dream catcher was created by someone when Rohan was just a baby. Since then, we have found huts and sculptures, never ending changes of scenery, sky and sea, abundant wildlife and a constantly changing river and estuary. We are so blessed to be living here at this moment, and when I think of the possibility of our children not being able to enjoy the beauty we see and almost take for granted each day, because of rising sea levels or other environmental damage, it becomes even more urgent that we Educate, Inspire and Ensure that the next generation and those after make the changes that we have not. So that they may continue to enjoy this amazing landscape.

Kakariki Nature Play intends to work towards this dream. Dream with us....
