While we support lively, open discussion, we reserve the right at our discretion to delete any comments that don’t comply with our rules or which we otherwise think are inappropriate and (if required) block users. Comments may also be turned off on some information-only posts to manage moderation and response requirements with our limited resources. Further enquiries can always be sent to [email protected]

That’s enough of the serious stuff. Now let’s have some fun. Make a post, add a comment and get involved. We look forward to interacting with you, thanks for following our page.

Arranging a burial or ashes interment at Akatārawa Cemetery 🌿

We recognise that making arrangements after a death can be a difficult and emotional time.

At Akatārawa Cemetery, there are two ways to manage arrangements, depending on what feels right for you and your family.

Many people choose to work with a funeral director, who will take care of the arrangements and coordinate the necessary bookings and approvals on your behalf.

Others prefer to make the arrangements themselves. If you choose this option, our Cemetery team is here to guide you through the process and support you with the required steps.

Please note that all burials and ashes interments must be approved and scheduled by Council before they can take place.

Whatever you choose, we are here to help ensure the process is handled with care, clarity, and respect.

Got an idea to reduce waste in Upper Hutt? ♻️💡

A new Waste Minimisation Grant is here to help you make a difference to our city!

We’re especially keen to support projects that:
🔧 Focus on reuse, repair, or redesign
🌱 Reduce organic waste
🏗 Cut down on construction & demolition waste

There’ll be two funding rounds available:

💰 Under $7K – open to everyone (community groups, schools, events, businesses)
💰 Over $7K – open to businesses and legal entities

This grant is financed through the national waste disposal levy.

Whether it’s a small community initiative or a bigger project with long-term impact, this is your opportunity to make a difference.
