Trentham School

Trentham School This site is primarily for parents, staff, friends of the school and past students. Vision: To develop skills for living and tools for learning.

By being respectful, resourceful and strengthening relationships, we become a resilient community. Trentham School is a Decile 4 school in Upper Hutt, 3 kilometres from the CBD. We are a happy school with a very strong, caring ethos. We encourage and expect children to work hard and behave well and try their best, developing into independent, self confident learners. We want to give our children a

thirst for learning that continues with them throughout their future school experiences and lives. An essential ingredient for this to happen is teamwork. We view education as a joint venture, involving everyone – children, parents, staff, and the wider community. Together we can provide the best for every child. Please visit our website to find out more about our school or contact the school.

JUNIOR CARPARK UPDATE:

At Trentham School, the safety and well-being of our tamariki is always our top priority. Following a recent review of school traffic, the Board of Trustees has made the decision to close the Junior Carpark gate during the school day, from 8.20am - after 3pm effective from this Monday.

Why is this happening?

This is a Health and Safety decision. We have recently experienced several 'near misses' in this area due to vehicles:

Vehicles passing through pedestrian footpaths.

Reversing in high-foot-traffic zones.

Attempting to turn around in an incredibly tight, high-risk space.

With our littlest learners using these paths, the current risk level is too high.

What you need to know from Monday:

Gate Closure: The Junior Carpark gate will be closed and locked throughout the duration of the school day.

Drop-off & Pick-up: Please use alternative drop-off zones outside the school gates.

Walk or Wheel: If possible, we encourage families to park a short distance away and walk the remaining few steps to school.

From the Board: "We understand this may add a couple of minutes to your morning routine, and we appreciate your understanding. However, we cannot compromise on the safety of our children. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school gates safe for everyone."

If you have any questions or require specific accessibility access, please contact the school office directly.
Thank you for your understanding.

Don't forget — School Photo Day is coming up on Thursday, June 18th!

We have a couple of different times set aside for family photos this year:

If you are bringing in younger or older siblings who do not attend the school, please come to the School Hall between 8:30 am and 8:55 am.

If all the siblings currently attend the school, their photos will just be taken during the normal school day, along with their class and individual photos.

Please make sure to return your completed sibling/family photo forms to the office by Wednesday so we can get everyone on the list!

14/06/2026

There will be No Breakfast Club on this Thursday 18th June due to school photos.

Breakfast Club will continue as normal in the hall on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8am.

Thank you :-)

Kia Ora Whanau,

Looking to keep your netballers busy over the holidays? Ara Tuakana is the best development programme I’ve come across. My daughter has done a variety but this is the only one she’s interested in now.

They are very good at helping players of all levels grow, while also being really supportive.

How incredible are Trentham Kids! (And whanau). The generosity and aroha has blown me away. What a wonderful community we have 😊

This is from our Jumping June fundraising (which is completely optional) for the Heart Foundation. It’s been great to see the kids getting excited about skipping too.

VOTE FOR TRENTHAM!
FREE Labour giveaway from Cowley Construction. We know schools always have projects that never quite make it to the top of the budget list, so we’re giving one school the opportunity to receive $5,000 free labour from our team to help tackle a project around the school.

We’d love your help spreading the word to your school community.

To enter; parents, staff and supporters simply need to visit our giveaway reel and nominate your school in the comments.
Thank you!

The nominations close on Monday 15 June

School photo day - Thursday 18 June

We are very excited for our upcoming photo day.
Family photos (this is with students who are outside of school) will be done before school between 8:30am-8:55am and sibling photos will be done during the day along with class and individual photos.
Both family photos and sibling photos need the form completed which will go home in the next day or so. Please return these forms to the office.

After photo day, an individual slip with a code will be sent home for families to place the photo orders online.
This is done through Photolife not through the school office.
Any questions please contact the office.
Thank you

Kia Ora Whanau,

We have an opportunity to join the Hutt Valley Basketball League in Term 3 which runs out of the Walter Nash Stadium in Taita. Registrations open on the 16th, so I am sending this information early to see if we have interest. I have attached the detailed document from HVBB, please read this carefully before registering your interest in playing through this form.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1tuowc3AiAn3EdGaWETO7hqQj31J2nHVDRQ6LJvhi2Mk/edit?usp=drivesdk

Some key details;

The team cost is $370 + a once a year $15 levy per player. Ten players per team is ideal as it both spreads the cost ($37 per player + $15 levy) and covers some being away or sick each week.

There are Year 1/2, Year 3/4, and Year 5/6 teams and they play on different days of the week.

Each team must have: No team can be entered without these.

Coach - Manage substitutions and playing time and ideally run one practice per week.

Manager - Manage communications for the team - put out game/training times etc.

Scorer - One parent from each team needs to work the bench each game.

Please have a read and register your interest asap if you would like your child to take part.

Nga mihi,

Michael
