Upper Hutt Schools: Enrolment Scheme Update

Kia ora whānau

With Upper Hutt growing fast, through new subdivisions and housing developments, the Ministry of Education is currently reviewing enrolment schemes for local Upper Hutt Primary and Intermediate Schools, including Oxford Crescent School.

This proactive step helps ensure that student numbers are evenly distributed across the Upper Hutt area so our classrooms don't become overcrowded.

We’re only in the very initial stages of this process, and we want to assure you that as soon as we have more detailed information, we will share it with our community for valuable feedback and consultation.

A reminder that today - Monday 15th June, the main entrance gate by the office will be closed while it is being replaced. During morning drop off you will be able to enter via the gate next to the crossing and the gate futher down by the playpod. During the school day only the gate by the playpod will be unlocked.

Thanks for your understanding as we replace the gates to match the amazing new fences.

We celebrated some fantastic runners 🏃‍♀️ who have been giving their all during Run Club sessions. We acknowledged the Run Club leaders , our Cross Country winners 🥇 and a chess ♟️champion.

Join us in Jumping June for heart ❤️ health.

Our playground has been absolutely buzzing with energy as our students skip their way through Jumping June! It is wonderful to see so many smiling faces out during break times, putting their coordination to the test and skipping their absolute best. The enthusiasm so far has been incredible, our students are proving that looking after our hearts can be heaps of fun!

To keep the Jumping June momentum going, we want to bring the fun home! Grab a rope and get the whole household moving with our quick, 7-day family challenge.

Our Challenge: Accumulate 1,000 family skips over the next week, or see who can hold the family "longest continuous skip" record!

No Rope? No Problem: High-knees, star jumps, or "shadow skipping" (mimicking the motion without a rope) all count toward your heart-health goals and total skips.
Feel free to share your families successes with this challenge on Whanau News. Good luck!

Today, our wonderful Year 6 students headed over to Maidstone Intermediate for an action-packed cluster sports day, and they had an absolute blast! We also got to see a fantastic performance by the Maidstone Kapa Haka and Pasifika groups, which was a real treat.

Our students were placed into mixed teams, giving them a wonderful opportunity to team up and make new friends with Year 6 peers from all around Upper Hutt. The day was jam-packed with a huge range of exciting activities, including dodgeball, football, capture the flag, and multisport, all fueled by a delicious burger for lunch.

Unfortunately, the action ended a bit sooner than expected due to the weather, but it didn't dampen our spirits after such a lovely time experiencing sport at Maidstone. It was a thoroughly awesome day filled with teamwork, high energy, and great sportsmanship. A massive thank you to Miss McManus and Mrs K for taking our Year 6 students along and to the awesome team at Maidstone Intermediate for a fabulous day!
