🏅 Celebrating Success at Our Merit Assembly! 🏅

Yesterday we came together for our Merit Assembly to celebrate the achievements, effort, and positive contributions of our amazing ākonga. It was wonderful to recognise students who have demonstrated our school values and worked hard in their learning.

A huge congratulations to all of our award recipients! 👏 It was an excellent way to wrap up another fantastic week of learning and success.

🌿 Te Ngākau o te Awa – A Day of Kōtahitanga 🌿

Our Kapa Haka group recently welcomed Fergusson Intermediate to Orongomai Marae for our annual cultural exchange. The day began with a whakatau and learning about the history of Orongomai, followed by waiata, harakeke weaving, and a friendly game of Ki-o-Rahi.

Students from both schools shared their talents through song and celebrated our connection by exchanging the mauri, which Fergusson Intermediate will care for over the coming year.

A fantastic day filled with learning, culture, and togetherness. Ka mau te wehi!

Poho kererū Robyn! Congratulations what an achievement!

A HUGE congratulations to the WM New Zealand NHV/NNZ Volunteer of the Month for May, Robyn Thayer.
Robyn does an amazing job coordinating 10 teams at Maidstone Intermediate along with helping us in the office on Saturdays and Mondays and at our our recent Year 7 & 8 tournament.

Our Wearable Arts crew has been busy creating, designing, and building as they prepare for Showquest. It's been awesome to see their creativity, teamwork, and ideas come to life!

🏓 MAD @ Pickleball 🏓

On Monday, our MAD ākonga had the opportunity to visit Upper Hutt's newest sporting facility, I Love Pickleball.

We had an awesome time learning the skills and rules of a new sport, showing great enthusiasm, teamwork, and a willingness to give something different a go. It's fair to say the kaiako had just as much fun as the students!

A huge thank you to the team at I Love Pickleball for hosting us. If you're looking for a fun and active way to spend some time with whānau or friends, we highly recommend checking out the courts.

🌍⚽ FIFA World Cup Fever Hits MIS! ⚽🌍

Today’s assembly had a special international flavour as we celebrated the opening of the FIFA World Cup with our very own mini flag parade! 🇳🇿🇧🇷🇯🇵🇦🇷🇫🇷

It was fantastic to see our ākonga proudly representing countries from around the world and embracing the spirit of unity, culture, and friendly competition that makes the World Cup so special.

A great way to finish the week, with plenty of excitement, colour, and school spirit on display. We can't wait to follow the tournament and see which team comes out on top! 🌟⚽

🏀 WRISSA Boys Basketball 🏀

What a great day to be indoors at Walter Nash, playing some fantastic basketball!

A huge congratulations to our boys for the perseverance, teamwork, and skill they showed throughout the day. They represented our school with pride and never gave up, no matter the challenge.

A big thank you to our whānau for their support from the sidelines, and special thanks to Mr Graff and Amon for giving up their time to coach, encourage, and support the team.
