A huge thank you to Apollo Projects for their ongoing support of Tauranga Girls' College athletes through their generous Sports Grants programme.

Throughout 2026, Apollo Projects has provided funding that is helping our students attend regional and national tournaments across a variety of sports. Their support is making a genuine difference to the lives of our young athletes and their families.

For many students, the costs associated with travel, accommodation, tournament fees, and uniforms can create significant barriers to participation. Thanks to the generosity of Apollo Projects, more of our athletes are able to take up these incredible opportunities, represent Tauranga Girls' College with pride, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

School sport provides so much more than competition. It builds confidence, resilience, teamwork, leadership, and lifelong friendships. The experiences our students gain through tournament participation are invaluable, and support from community partners like Apollo Projects helps make these opportunities accessible to those who may otherwise miss out.

On behalf of our athletes, whฤnau, coaches, and wider school community, thank you, Apollo Projects. We are proud to have you as a valued supporter of Tauranga Girls' College Sport. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค

Last week, our wonderful Diversity Prefects organized an incredible Pride Week celebration filled with vibrant activities, joy, and a whole lot of colour.
Our school grounds completely came alive as our ฤkonga embraced the spirit of inclusion and pride. Hereโ€™s a look at what went down:

Rainbow Accessory Day: Our ฤkonga brightened up the campus by rocking amazing, colourful accessories on top of their school uniforms! ๐Ÿงฃ๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ

Face Painting & Chalk Art: Transforming both faces and footpaths into bright, beautiful masterpieces. ๐ŸŽจโœ๏ธ

Sticker Shop: A massive hit with students grabbing awesome stickers to show their support and pride. ๐ŸŽ’โค๏ธ

A huge shoutout to our Diversity Prefects for putting together such a positive, welcoming, and fun week for everyone. At TGC, we are so proud to be a place where everyone can feel seen, valued, and celebrated for exactly who they are!

๐ŸŽ‰ BIG WINS AT TOI WEARABLE ART 2026! ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ‘—

We are incredibly proud to share some fantastic news about the success of our talented students at the Toi Bay of Plenty Wearable Art event (part of Showquest), held at Mercury Bay Park this past Wednesday!

This year featured a tough new selection process based on conceptual design work. Five of our amazing Year 11 and 12 students from the Performing Arts & Technology learning areas were selected to compete:
โœจ Peyton Crawford
โœจ Charlotte Buchanan
โœจ Alexis Buchanan
โœจ Gabby Addison
โœจ Briahna Forbes (who was sadly unable to attend on the night)

Our students entered stunning designs across the Red, Depths, Heights, and Open categories.

๐Ÿ† The Results are In!
Out of 24 contestants on the night, only four awards were given out in total - and Tauranga Girls' College took home TWO of them! Both awards recognis ed outstanding garment construction:

Peyton Crawford (Open Section): Awarded for her incredible papier-mรขchรฉ garment representing Alice in Wonderland. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ‡

Charlotte Buchanan (Depths & Heights Section): Awarded for her stunning Midnight Kelp piece, inspired by Bull Kelp found on the South Island coast. ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒฟ

All four ฤkonga brought incredible energy to the runway, doing a phenomenal job modeling their creations and representing our school with true creativity and poise.

A fantastic achievement for our students โ€” go Tauranga Girls' College! ๐Ÿ’™โญ

Congratulations to all of our Gateway students who recently sat their Learner Licence test when the AA came on site - every student successfully passed! ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ‘

In preparation, students completed pre-learner theory sessions with local qualified driving instructor Ryan from DriverEd, helping to build their knowledge and confidence ahead of testing day.

We are incredibly proud of this fantastic achievement and grateful to Ryan from DriverEd and the AA team for their support.
