KIWI FACT FRIDAY
Kiwi are vulnerable to predators and risk being hit by vehicles as they cross the road. In most unmanaged areas almost all kiwi chicks are killed within the first six months of hatching. Most of those are killed by stoats, and the main cause of death to adult kiwi are dogs.

The logo breakdown-
The top and largest mountain is Pūtauaki- Portraying the Eastern Bay of Plenty region.
The middle mountain is Mauao- Portraying the Western Bay of Plenty.
The bottom mountain is Mount Tarawera portraying the Rotorua region.
The blue is the mountains again but instead portray the ocean and lakes which are so important to our region's identity.
These mountains, these lakes, this ocean, this land is what we are proud of, what we think is as good as any national park and what we think needs to preserved and enhanced.

Bay of Plenty National Park is inspired by great National Parks; it is part aspirational goal, part choosing how we live.
We believe the Bay of Plenty is mostly at a National Park status already, even where our towns and cities are based. There already exists spectacular natural beauty in our region, in our reserves, in our cities and in our suburbs. We want to encourage everyone to work together to protect and enhance our region’s natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage and live more sustainably. 🐦🦎🐝🌳🐌🌱 🐋
