Waipahihi School students proudly rolled up their sleeves for Kids Greening Taupō Day, taking part in an incredible community effort to plant 4,000 native trees along Tauhara Road. The day was filled with energy, enthusiasm, and a shared passion for protecting and restoring the local environment. Our tamariki embraced the opportunity to get hands-on, learning about the importance of native planting and how it helps create vital wildlife corridors for Taupō’s future.
Alongside planting, our keen “Little Lion Trappers” and members of the Lions Club Committee took part promoting how to protect Aotearoa’s unique native species from pests. They discover how trapping programmes work, why they matter, and even build traps themselves. It was inspiring to see their curiosity and commitment to becoming kaitiaki (guardians) of our environment.
A huge well done to all Waipahihi students for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and dedication to making a difference in our community.
