🌟 Meet Te Whetu – Our Rising Superstar! 🌟

We’re thrilled to have Te Whetu join the team at The Geyser Café at Whakarewarewa! He applied with the goal of earning some good cash and saving for his future and we love that drive.
He’s looking forward to learning all about the amazing products we create here and mastering the barista machine. Already, Te Whetu has brought so much joy and ease to the team with his eager attitude it’s been awesome to watch!
When he’s not working hard, you’ll find him jamming his favorite game, or after a big day of mahi, relaxing with a good movie and something tasty to eat.

Whakarewarewa Village is proud to welcome home Angelina Raukawa-Phillips, who is launching her unique baking venture at the iconic Geyser Café.
After six years away, Angelina returns to Rotorua with a mission: to share authentic, geothermal-inspired baking rooted in the traditions of Tūhourangi Ngāti Wāhiao.

Raised in Whakarewarewa, Angelina learned the art of cooking alongside steam boxes and mineral pools, guided by her mother’s wisdom and the warmth of the wharekai.
Her passion for baking is an extension of manaakitanga, the deep sense of hospitality passed down through generations.

“Like my father, a tā moko artist who shares our stories through art, I share mine through flavour,” says Angelina.

Visitors to Geyser Café can now experience this unique blend of heritage and creativity. Don’t just read the story—taste the legacy!
