Help Keep South Canterbury’s History Moving! 🚂❤️

For over 50 years, the Pleasant Point Museum & Railway has been bringing history to life for thousands of families. But keeping 100-year-old steam giants like our beloved Ab 699 running safely takes more than just volunteer passion—it takes serious funding.

From expensive boiler maintenance to replacing timber and track, the material costs to keep our heritage railway alive continue to rise.

As a 100% volunteer-run society, we rely entirely on the generosity of our community. If you’ve ever enjoyed a ride on the Fairlie Flyer, or want to make sure future generations get to experience the magic of steam, please consider supporting us!
Every dollar goes directly toward track repairs, restoration work, and keeping our whistles blowing.

Honouring D-Day: Remembering the Sacrifices Made for Freedom 🌹🚂

Today, 6 June, we pause to mark the anniversary of the D-Day landings in 1944. We remember the immense bravery of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy, launching the operation that changed the course of World War II. As guardians of South Canterbury's history, we reflect on the incredible courage of all those who served overseas—including the many railway workers, engineers, and local community members who left their regular lives behind to fight for the freedom we enjoy today. Their dedication, sacrifice, and spirit will never be forgotten.
Lest we forget. 🇳🇿🕊️
