It's not very often we get the opportunity to line up 4 appliances that have all carried the same call sign but with a new truck on the horizon now is that time! Four generations of Palmerston North 211 (PALM211) all proudly standing side by side and were all introduced as new to our brigade. From L-R is a 1999 Scania P94DB (now PALM212), 2009 Scania P310 (now Milson 201), 2017 MAN TGM (current PALM211) and 2021 MAN TGM (to be PALM211).
We're excited to finally have some newer appliances joining our fleet with Milson also receiving an upgrade identical to the newest PALM211 in the next few weeks.

Today Otaki Paramedic Chuck Williams is on day 3 of his epic 191km walk from Otaki to Dannevirke all in the name of Te Kiwi Maia, a fantastic charity who support first responders and defence staff through mental health struggles.
Chuck is due to come into Palmy today via Milson Line between 1630 - 1700 today. If you see him on the road give him a toot and a wave, we're sure he'd appreciate it.
You can also head to his page to see more details and to donate to this great cause.

STRIKE ACTION NUMBER 26!
Today (FRIDAY) will see Industrial Action take place between 12pm-1pm.
We are standing up and united as the New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union for FENZ not only come to the bargaining table but to put Operational issues as a priority. We would appreciate if you took a few moments to sign a petition to support a public enquiry into FENZ.
We thank those who continue to support us from waves, visits, t***s and walking with us. We are stronger together!

Today's national strike action was called off from the New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union National Committee due to dozens of communities being affected by extreme weather with multiple crews either in recovery mode or still deployed. This didn't stop our crews from heading down to help out setting up for Relay For Life. We were proud to still be able to give back to our community especially to the great cause that is the Cancer Society.
Good luck to all those taking part in this great event this weekend 💪👌

634 days without a contract with no end in sight, our members continue their māhi both on the incident ground and during our one hour Monday and Friday strikes. Last Friday and Monday we continued our Strike for Good with the crews putting in the work at both the SPCA and Te Māra Tārehu Community Garden respectively.
Tomorrow we'll be meeting on Roxburgh Cres to lend a hand to the Cancer Society setting up for The Relay For Life this weekend. Feel free to come and lend a hand as well or come and chat to the crews about why we're still having to walk away from the trucks for one hour.

Operations at last night's incidents wrapped up this evening while fire investigators will carry on with their hard mahi tomorrow.
This was an extraordinary fire that saw a range of resources from across the region called in as well as crews carrying out multiple BA wearings in challenging conditions (up to 7 wearings for some teams). We cannot thank all of our crews enough for your dedicated work to bring this incident to an end.
As always a massive thanks to our awesome surrounding volunteer brigades who attended Bunnythorpe Volunteer Fire Brigade Feilding Volunteer Fire Brigade Ashhurst Volunteer Fire Brigade Rongotea volunteer fire Brigade Palmerston North Operational Support Unit Levin Volunteer Fire Brigade along with cover in Palmy being provided by the teams at Woodville Volunteer Fire Brigade and Bulls Volunteer Fire Brigade and many more who were moved as part of this knock on effect.
This incident also saw multiple career crews called into support from Whanganui, Napier/Hastings, Paraparaumu, Porirua, Thorndon, Remutaka and Hutt City along with many of our own amazing staff being called in on their days off to support our duty crews.
We were well supported throughout by Rapid Relief Team NZ Hato Hone St John Manawatu, Taranaki, Whanganui-Ruapehu Police as well as our own District and Group managers, Volunteer Support Officers, Trainers and Fire Investigators.
Finally, we appreciate the patience of the public and local businesses, especially those affected by road closures and disruption to the morning commute. Our thoughts are with the business owners impacted by this fire.

JFK update 4AM.
We still have multiple crews on site tackling this blaze. This fire is proving hard to control with high fuel loading of various types, large industrial shelving and the type of building construction making it difficult to reach the main areas of fire.
JFK Drive will be shut for some time between Rangitikei Line and Fairs Rd in both directions, please avoid the area during your morning commute.
Reminder if you're down wind of smoke to shut your windows and leave air conditioning off and if you feel at danger to please call 111.
