Been a big year, after another round of rat baiting things are looking good. Compared to last year we have used just 10% of the bait in this year's stations. Most seem to have been eaten by mice rather than rats as well. I was happily guided by a flock of 5 fantails on my last trip. Coming into winter there will be renewed focus on doc 200 traps whilst times traps remain around some boundaries. Wasps seem under control, I hope Noone had any negative experiences? If you notice anything feel free to post on this page and I'll sort it. The northern sector is now spray free, ie any pest plant work is done by regularly cutting out plants. This again is getting easier showing further success. Please keep enjoying the space, and see you all in there.

25 wasp nests removed from the northern boundaries of the reserve this year, now its time for vespex to catch the nests I couldn't find. Today will announce the start of the next batch of rat baiting. We have noticed a significant increase of insects. By variety and number this year. I know this is helped in part by the wet weather, but its still looking positive.

Great start to the year, on and around years bush 14 wasp nest killed in 2 weeks. This nest was 50cm x 40cm x 7cm.

Privately owned land set aside for public use. Over the last month the owners of Mears Bush have put in more than 50 hours work, destroyed 30+ wasp nests and countless rats. Today we found 40 or so trees maliciously snapped in a 100m stretch. Makes us debate the work we put in to help visitors.

Extensive trap runs have been placed throughout the Bush, all animals will be safe if kept on the track and on lead. Also be careful as wasp numbers are blossoming. If you see white powder on trees it is wasp poison.

A few big changes happening in mears Bush this coming few months. Reintroduction of doc 200 rat traps, black box tracking boxes, (to set base line measures of rodent numbers) large live cat, hedgehog and possum traps (reducing risk to pets) and a large increase in timms traps. All privately funded and maintained by the owners of Mears Bush with assistance from qe2 trust.
