Earthlore Nature Tours, Wildlife Garden and Food Forest with Tiny House Accommodation in The Catlins, NZ

Owned by Gordon and Janine Thompson, Earthlore is a 10 acre property in the Catlins, NZ, dedicated to planting for wildlife and growing edibles, with an established food forest, donkeys and sheep. Nestled into the garden are two tiny houses available for holiday accommodation plus we run a range of local, guided nature tours. Our specialty is Nature at Night, going out on small group tours checking in on the local Catlins glow-worms and critically endangered Pekapeka.

They look deceptively like a hot chilli, but no, this is a tasty sweet pepper called Jimmy Nardello we bought from Basil and Baylys this season. It's been a great cropper and we're chopping them up to have on hand in the freezer when capsicum prices are through the roof. 🌶🫑

Just for something different we're creating a new garden at Earthlore 🤣.
We've been killing the weeds off first by using black polythene to shut out the light, using whatever is on hand to weight it down. It works a treat, but you do need to leave it on for several months. Then we move it onto the next patch. 🌿🌱🌻🌿
