Update - Did you receive the Emergency Mobile Alert test?

➡ Please take the time to fill out the EMA feedback survey to indicate if you did or did not receive the alert and share how the system operated for you.

➡ It only takes a minute, but your feedback is important for testing and helping improve the Emergency Mobile Alert system:

📱Emergency Mobile Alert Test

NZ Civil Defence will conduct the annual nationwide Emergency Mobile Alert (EMA) test this evening. An alert will be sent to all capable phones and SIM-connected devices between 6pm and 7pm.

✅ This is a routine test to ensure the system is working effectively across New Zealand.

🔕 The alert sound can be muted using the volume button on your device (the message will remain on screen)

➡ If you have a hidden phone or may be impacted by the alert tone, turn off devices or switch to flight mode during this time (between 6pm and 7pm)

Emergency Mobile Alerts are one of several channels used to provide official warnings. They support but do not replace other sources of information or the need to act on natural warning signs. If your safety is at risk, do not wait for an alert, take immediate action.

Do you have smoke alarms? Are they in the right place? Do you want a home safety check? That's the question we were asking at the Food Basket at Otane Town Hall this morning. What about your safe meeting place? Have you had that discussion with your family?
