Ōmata School

Ōmata School We are a Y0-8 school with approximately 210 students. Our school offers quality education in a caring learning environment.

We have a proud tradition as a community school and our reputation is based around a very successful partnership with families. We have an active ‘Open Door’ policy which encourages parents into classrooms and around the school at all times and I urge you to take the opportunity to become involved. We have a stunning physical environment which includes a well established native bush with an outdoo

r classroom area and outstanding playground facilities. A very special feature of our school is the continuity of education we provide for children from Year 1 to Year 8. Our doors are always open to discuss any facet of your child’s education.

🎭 You're Invited! 🎭
It would be wonderful to have an audience this afternoon at 2:15pm by the skatepark as our students showcase the dance moves and routines they have been learning over the past two days.
Come along, support our tamariki, and enjoy the performance!
A huge thank you to Footsteps Dance Company and Veronica for bringing so much energy, enthusiasm, and creativity to the programme. We can't wait to see our students shine! ✨💃🕺

Our Year 6 tamariki recently took part in a three-day Water Safety Programme at the Aquatic Centre, supported by Water Safety New Zealand, Coastguard Boating Education, and Todd Energy.

Throughout the programme, students learnt a range of practical skills to help keep themselves and others safe around water. They practised entering and exiting a boat safely, learnt what to do if a boat capsizes, and developed confidence swimming while wearing a life jacket. They also experienced safe deep-water jumps, worked together in chains and huddles to stay connected in open water, and learnt how to carry out rope-throw rescues to assist someone in difficulty.

This was a fantastic opportunity for our tamariki to build confidence, resilience, teamwork, and essential life-saving water safety skills. We are incredibly proud of the positive attitude and enthusiasm they showed throughout the programme. Well done, Year 6! 🌊🛟

Well done to Arli, Baxter and James who were recently tasked with the challenge of fixing a stalling weed-eater. After a little online research, they diagnosed the problem, stripped the carburettor, discovered a split fuel line, and fixed the problem!

Year 5 and 6 students had a brilliant day in Inglewood last Wednesday taking part in a Rippa Rugby tournament. It was fantastic to have a record five teams entered, with many students giving the sport a go for the very first time.

Our teams came away with a large number of wins and, most importantly, showed great teamwork, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm throughout the day. Well done to all involved; we are very proud of you! 🏉👏
