A significant day for Ngāpuhi as the Enabling Communities kaupapa was formally acknowledged and signed today.

This moment reflects years of kōrero, advocacy and commitment toward iwi led solutions that keep our tamariki connected to whakapapa, whānau and community.

There is still plenty of mahi ahead, though today marked an important step forward in creating pathways shaped by Ngāpuhi, for Ngāpuhi. 🖤🤍❤️

There’s som**hing powerful about hearing laughter in the middle of heavy kōrero. Even through everything, you can hear the love there.

“When they finally hit that point of choosing us over the m**h, everything started changing.”

Sometimes the biggest turning points come from the people who decide to fight for their kids, even after years of chaos. What did that turning point look like for you?

Sometimes the hardest part is realising you’re not yourself anymore.

In this clip from Ka Huri Te Tai, Fairlayne Webster opens up about hitting that point where things no longer felt right, and making the decision to become someone his whānau could look up to.

“I want them to look up to som**hing great.”

That whakaaro hits hard for a lot of our people. Change doesn’t just affect one person, it echoes through the whole whānau.

Helam and Jonas Tahere share a raw reflection on what it felt like growing up around addiction and watching both parents get locked up at the same time.

The uncertainty, the fear, the pressure of suddenly not knowing what happens next. These are realities many tamariki carry quietly.

Ka Huri Te Tai exists to hold honest kōrero like this, because behind every addiction story is a whānau feeling the impact too.

We’re not set up. And people on the front line know it.

There’s a gap when it comes to supporting people coming down off m**h.
Nowhere to stabilise, nowhere that keeps their mana intact while they’re in that space.

So those doing the mahi are left holding it all.

This kōrero from Jaquii Hessell speaks straight to that reality. Honest, direct, and from lived experience.

What does support actually look like?

For Harley, it’s simple.
Showing up for people who’ve walked the same path.
Jail, systems, all of it.

No judgement, no big talk.
Just real understanding, kanohi ki te kanohi.

That’s where the shift starts.

He’s lived a life where other things were in control.

Now he’s learning what it means to take that back.

In this kōrero with Gary Reti, there’s no big speech. Just honesty about where he’s been and where he’s at now.

Sometimes the biggest shift is simply getting grounded again.

Her sons were angry watching what addiction was doing to their mum.

Lisa Adams talks with Nix and Pio about how it impacted their whole whānau.
The tension between mum and dad.
Standing by her daughter through it all.
And the moment they had to come together, set boundaries, and stop enabling.

Even when it hurt.

This kōrero is real, raw, and som**hing a lot of whānau will recognise.
