What are the biggest issues you see happening on our roads?

Road damage? Mud on our roads? Events holding up traffic? Something else?

We're wanting a better understanding of what you think about what happens on our roads and how they impact you.

Tell us what you think and have your say by 26 June: https://consult.waikatodc.govt.nz/activities-in-and-around-roads/TAEAAA

These puppies were found abandoned in a supermarket bag yesterday.

Thankfully, someone stopped, cared, and made sure they got the help they needed.

Abandoning animals is never the answer. If you have puppies or dogs you can no longer care for, or come across animals needing help, please contact the SPCA New Zealand so they can be cared for properly.

If cost is a barrier to desexing your dog, our Pup Fund programme is available for Community Services Card holders. For $80, your dog can be desexed, and the fee also covers the following year's registration.

Let's work together to prevent more puppies from ending up in situations like this ❤️

Say goodbye to Taupiri playground, with work starting tomorrow on the renewal.

This will include the installation of new play equipment, including a timber balance play, overhead bars, net climber, slide and a flying fox.

All going well, the playground will reopen on 31 July. We'll share updates as the project progresses.

The solar panels at Raglan’s wastewater treatment plant are up and running again, following the state-of-the-art infrastructure upgrade to the plant.

The 360 panels use the sun’s energy to help power the new Membrane Bioreactor treatment plant, generating 160kWP of power – that’s equivalent to 20-30 average homes – and reducing
electricity costs.

On a sunny autumn day, we are typically generating 110kVA, which is a significant amount of daily energy. Under the midday sun, there is typically a 25kW export returned to the grid.

The use of solar is part of our commitment to sustainability and saving money for ratepayers.

We’ve recently completed CCTV camera investigation on 8km of our stormwater pipes across parts of the district.

Yep, we put a camera down the pipes to check their condition and where blockages might be, so we can prioritise future maintenance and upgrades.

With more than 200km of stormwater network pipes across the district, we can’t do it all at once! This time round we focused on parts of Huntly, Ngaaruawaahia, Port Waikato, Raglan, Te Kauwhata, Tuakau and Meremere.

Many of these stormwater pipes are very old, and they accumulate sediment and debris over time, so before we put the camera down, we lightly flush the pipes to clean them. We removed more than four tonnes of sediment from Huntly stormwater pipes!

Fieldays is on next week, from Wednesday 10 June to Saturday 13 June.

If you're travelling through the area, expect increased traffic and delays around Mystery Creek, SH1, and SH21.

Plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and check the latest traffic information before you leave: https://ow.ly/xyxJ50Z7p1n
