We had stunning weather for our cross country today! Thank you to all the whānau who could join us in person and to those who were cheering our children on from wherever they were able. Everyone gave it a go, had fun, helped and encouraged each other, and did a fantastic job of participating and finishing their events.

Parkside spent the afternoon celebrating our whole schools effort at lunchtimes to earn a special reward - a sports and games afternoon. They have all played nicely, included others and showed our values all term. The points will reset and we will start working towards our next reward on Tuesday. Keep up the good mahi Parkside, we are very proud of you!

Room 1 enjoyed exploring light this afternoon! We used the biggest light source we could find — the sun — to discover that light travels in straight lines, which meant we had to carefully line up our colour paddles in the right direction.
We explored how light passes through some objects but not others, experimented with mixing colours using the coloured paddles and sunlight on the concrete, and reflected light using mirrors and old CDs.
As you can see, it was a very exciting and busy afternoon full of hands-on learning and discovery!
