We wanted to share a quick reminder about student attendance and absences.
Schools are now required by the Ministry of Education to closely monitor student attendance. This information is reported to and monitored by the Ministry, so this process is out of our hands — we are simply doing what we are required to do.
The Ministry uses attendance categories based on the number of days a child is away across a term. As a guide, in a 10-week term:
🟢 Green / Regular attendance: 0–5 days away -class teacher will contact you via phone or text
🟡 Yellow / Irregular absence: 5–10 days away -letter/email
🟠 Orange / Moderate absence: 10–15 days away - letter/email
🔴 Red / Chronic absence: 15 or more days away - Truancy notified
This includes all absences, even when they are explained. We absolutely understand that children get sick and that family situations happen. This is not about judging anyone — it is about meeting Ministry requirements and making sure every child is safe, supported, and accounted for.
If your child is away, please let the office know the reason as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
