Tomorrow is the big day! Don't forget, we are celebrating the town's 150th Anniversary with a special Dress-Up Day at Murchison Area School.

We can't wait to see all your amazing, creative costumes representing any era from 1876 all the way to 2000. Will you go for Victorian elegance, rock some 1920s flair, or bring back the 90s denim? The choice is yours!

This is going to be such a fun day to remember - what a way to end the term!

TOSI has wrapped for another year. While we may not have had the wins or overall result we were hoping for, the team showed some amazing skills and that they have so much potential ahead of next year's tournament. A huge whakamihi | congratulations to those named in the Nationals trial team (we will share the names and their sports next week).
The final event of the tournament was the skit, which Murchison won!
🌟 Well done team, you did MAS proud 🌟

The senior Outdoor Ed class have been progressing their skills in white-water kayaking. We have some talented students in the class who put plenty of time and effort into learning and kayaking in their own time, and that showed in what the students were able to do.

In the first weeks, we were in the pool learning and perfecting rolling. We then moved to flat-water skills at the Eel Hole, getting ready for moving water at Longford, Christmas Beach. This is all gearing up for a three-day kayaking assessment, which we have just completed.

Students were assessed on reading the water, being able to paddle Grade 2 rapids, and moving their kayaks into and out of the flow. All students were rolling in the flow, which meant there were very few rescues. We actually got a little nervous that students were not able to exit their kayaks, so we made them all swim a rapid just in case.

On Day 1 of the assessment, we paddled from the Owen Pub down to Doctors Creek.

On Day 2, we got in just below the swing bridge and paddled for about five hours to our campsite. The top part of this section is paddled often, but the lower part is rarely navigated. Students enjoyed the rapids and drinking from the pristine Deepdale River.

Day 3 was a celebration of the unit. Students pushed themselves on the upper section that we paddled the day before and focused on enjoying their time on the water and the rollercoaster that this pursuit provides.

Thank you to Sophia Mulder for coming along for the ride. Your involvement was really appreciated.

🌟 Student Spotlight 🌟
Lacey is a committed and diligent rugby player who continues to make waves on the field. Following a successful 2025 season, where she played for two teams and earned several awards for her skill and dedication, Lacey spent her summer holidays taking her game to the next level.

Lacey travelled to Tauranga for a two-week intensive development program at the Inside Running Academy. Attending thanks to a partial scholarship awarded in 2025, she was the youngest athlete in the program, training alongside players as old as 20.

Her daily schedule was gruelling, involving:
- Mornings: High-intensity gym sessions
- Midday: Field-based tactical and skill development
- Afternoons: Specialised fitness and cardio training

Lacey focused specifically on her kicking game and aerobic capacity, improvements we are excited to see in action this upcoming season. Outside of the rigorous training, Lacey enjoyed the Tauranga beaches and the opportunity to connect with high-quality players from across the country.

Keep up the great work, Lacey! It’s inspiring to see you putting yourself out there and making the most of these fantastic opportunities.
