Can You Read Simplified Chinese?

We're looking for a volunteer to help with a special Storytime session during NZ Chinese Language Week!

✨ When: Thursday 2 July, 10.30am–11.00am
✨ Where: The Library, 45 Chapel Street
✨ What: Read Simplified Chinese during a fun and engaging Storytime session for children and families.

If you can read Simplified Chinese and would like to share your language and culture with our community, we'd love to hear from you.

Have you heard? From 26 May 2026 – eeepp, that's next week! – we will be part of the SMART library network. 🎉

This means more than 600,000 items across the region will become available for you to browse, borrow, and enjoy at Hutt City, Porirua, Kāpiti Coast District, Masterton, Carterton District, and South Wairarapa District Libraries.

And the best thing: Our move to SMART will be completely seamless for you! Your Library Card will automatically work at all participating branches. 🙌
