Team work makes the dream work! Our ākonga love helping each other, pitching in and getting the mahi done. We have been super lucky with Whaea Natura bringing te Rā out and warming up our days after frosty, chilly starts. Long may it last!! 🤞☀️🍂

Just a quick share of all the learning tamariki get from everyday routines in their home environment. These look different for everyone but great snippets of learning in the simple things at home. We recognise parents as first teachers, and this learning is built on during everyday routines and play here at kindergarten. For our whānau, we have copies of this by the sign in sheet if you like, to see all the great things your tamariki learn amongst the busyness of everyday lives.

🌺 This week we celebrated Samoan Language alongside Mel from our wider Whānau Manaaki aiga/family. We are lucky to have support from those in our community to celebrate Samoan culture across all times of the year too like when we do Sasa with Masterton Intermediate School, and more. E mamae le Tava'e i ona fulu - a beautiful reminder to be proud of who you are, your heritage, and where you come from ❤️🇼🇸

At York Street Kindergarten, nga kaiako work in collaboration with ākonga to explore and develop the building blocks of literacies in all areas of the environment and curriculum. From traditional literacies, to social and emotional literacies, to science and math literacies, and more! ✨

Another wiki of fun in the Autumn sun ☀️ Together we shared laughs, explored common interests and collaborated to get the mahi done! nga ākonga shared final days with friends who are heading off on their next learning journey, and spent time with new friends who are joining our beautiful space. We look forward to see what next week will bring at York Street Kindergarten! 🍂💚🫧

How lucky are we to still be able to explore and connect outside in this mild Autumn weather! Ākonga have particularly enjoyed the dropping leaves - piling them up for jumping or sliding into, or even just picking up armfuls and throwing them in the air! 🍂☀️💚
