๐Ÿ”Œโš ๏ธ Do Not Overload Multi-Boards โš ๏ธ๐Ÿ”Œ

Multi-boards and power strips are handy, but plugging too many high-powered appliances into one outlet can create a serious fire risk. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

To stay safe:
โœ”๏ธ Avoid plugging heaters, electric blankets, dryers, and other high-powered appliances into the same multi-board
โœ”๏ธ Never plug one multi-board into another
โœ”๏ธ Check for damaged cords, plugs, or outlets
โœ”๏ธ Make sure multi-boards have adequate ventilation and aren't covered by furniture, clothing, or bedding

โš ๏ธ If a multi-board feels hot, smells unusual, or shows signs of damage, stop using it immediately.

A few simple checks can help prevent an electrical fire and keep your whฤnau safe this winter. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿก

Winter is the season for house fires.

As the temperature drops, preventable house fires increase 17 percent on average as people do what they can to keep themselves warm.

Most of these fires will start from items such as clothing, beds or couches being too close to a heater or a fire.

These fires can be fatal but that is preventable with some good habits.

So, instead of bombarding you with every hot tip at once, weโ€™ll build one good habit at a time with our winter fire safety series of Hot Tips ๐Ÿ”ฅ

In this series, weโ€™ll cover:
1. Cooking critic turned lifesaver โ€“ the humble life of a smoke alarm ๐Ÿšจ
2. Escape my house โ€“ a race to get out ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ
3. Size does matter, why items must be 1 metre from the heater ๐Ÿ“
4. Hot under the covers with electric blankets ๐Ÿ›Œ
5. Belly button or dryer lint โ€“ which is more hazardous? ๐Ÿซง
6. Itโ€™s spaghetti junction at the multi-board ๐Ÿ

So, whether you own a home, rent or live with family, building some good habits this winter could save your life.

โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ Electric Blanket Safety Reminder ๐Ÿ”ฅโ„๏ธ

As the colder weather arrives, electric blankets can help keep you warm but itโ€™s important to use them safely. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

โœ”๏ธ Check your electric blanket for wear, frayed cords, scorch marks, or damage before use
โœ”๏ธ Follow the manufacturerโ€™s instructions
โœ”๏ธ Turn it off before going to sleep, unless it is designed for overnight use
โœ”๏ธ Never fold or tuck it in tightly while switched on
โœ”๏ธ Store it flat or loosely rolled when not in use
โœ”๏ธ Replace old or damaged blankets

โš ๏ธ If in doubt, have it checked or replace it. Your safety comes first.

Stay warm and stay safe this winter. ๐Ÿ’™
