Part of what has turned out to be a very exciting week - met Quilae the leader of the Opportunity Party at the Mahoe Reserve in Lincoln, along with our amazing Envirotown.

Then again later with Adrian Mee the Selwyn Candidate; Eden Skipper - Christchurch Central; and Matt Harris - Rangitata, at the Rolleston Community Centre for a fully packed, invite only event of 100+ people to introduce the new candidates.

There was a great vibe and buzz to the room - even young people! Uni students, high students even! Eden went to our Lincoln High and is from Banks Peninsula. Adrian lives in Prebbleton, laboratory health scientist and small business owner, and Matt from Ashburton - farmer and complex systems processes! What a great combination of sensible, well informed people! All amazing, down to earth and keen to make a difference .

I’m not a politician and I made it clear when I stood for Council that it was about community not politics but I will go out on a limb here and say that you should check them out if you have had enough of the rubbish that has come from successive governments. They’ve polled at 6% which would get them into parliament, and growing by the day. So maybe you feel a change is coming……….

Do you - or anyone you know have family history in Greenpark?
Project ‘Community Halls’ is under way - so come along to the meeting at the hall on Wednesday, 7pm, June 10th.

Rural day out!
Last week we all visited Ashburton Council!
This was part of our response to the Governments amazing suggestion for all the Councils around New Zealand to get together and make up a proposal of how to ‘amalgamate;’ ‘work together’ ‘reduce costs’ and ‘reduce duplication and complication.’
We had a great chat - lovely new building that they have, as you can see! Lunch was good - not sure what the outcome was since nobody really knew what the rules were or what it meant!
So the question is - should we join with Ashburton? Waimakariri? Christchurch? Stand alone as Unitary Authority with shared committees or staff to cover the regional functions that Environment Canterbury used to do? Or do nothing and wait for the Government to do something with us in the ‘Back Stop.’ - dont you love how they make up names for stuff that never existed until last week and now it is a standad part of bureacratic speak along with ‘Headstart Programme’ as if everyone knows what that means now!
To have your say with the 2000+ residents of Selwyn who have already replied - go to www.selwyn.govt.nz/headstart and fill in the 60 second survey!
Dont be part of the silent majority! 💙💚💙
