Kawakawa Playcentre

Kawakawa Playcentre Parent Run Early Childhood Centre Playcentre philosophy is based on the ideas of child-initiated play and parents as first educators.

Playcentre is an early childhood education service, run as a parent co-operative, which commits to the following in order to ensure the quality of early childhood education in each session:
• learning through play
• birth to school age
• mixed ages sessions
• family involvement
• other policies and philosophies as decided by the annual national conference. Because sessions are run as a co-ope

rative, parents meet out of session to share experiences and information about the children, and meet the business needs of an early childhood centre. Decisions are usually done by consensus, to ensure all members feel heard and understood. Everyone is expected to take responsibility for something, depending on their capabilities and availability. Tuesday & Thursday. 9.30 - 12.30

Hi all, a reminder that the Seed, Crop & Knowledge Swap is on again this Saturday June 6th from 10am till Noon. It will then break for a few months and return in Sept. 💚

The playcentre planting bee is postponed till spring, so hold onto those plants. Come for a swap, a hot drink and hangout instead; to warm into the winter. Happy Days.

Appreciation Post! What a exciting way to start Term 2. We are so incredibly lucky to have had Chantelle and Samaria come to our Playcentre yesterday.

They had a wonderful rapport and they worked so smoothly amongst the noisy play and chatter of children and parents.

Term 2 at Kawakawa Playcentre.
What's happening?

✨️✨️✨️

Michelle, our session facilitator, is shifting days to run our Monday sessions.

Wednesdays will remain open with the volunteer aid of our members (thank you everyone!).
We are on the look out for anyone with an early childhood certification that can fulfill the legal requirements to keep this session running.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

🦷 Mon 20th we start with a special visitor to teach us about our teeth and check our kids pearly whites health for any parents who would appreciate a experienced eye and referral if needed.

🌹 Wed 22nd - Theme: Making poppys to decorate a wreath for parade.

🎺 Sat 25th - ANZAC DAY
Come join the parade in town to pay respect to those before us, gathering at the Johnson Park playground afterwards (weather permitting).

[No playcentre Monday 27th - public holiday]

💎 Wed 29th - Theme: Rocks, bring a cool rock to paint and leave in our Playcentre garden.

🪏 Sat 2nd - The gardening gurus are in again to swap seeds, plants, crops and knowledge... followed by the first working bee to revitalize our raised bed area.

📖 Wed 6th - Our monthly Librarian visits for Storytime 10.30 til 11.30
