We have some serious musical talent here at Katikati College! A huge shout-out to Rowan Sutherland and Sierra Prassinos for competing in the Smokefree Rockquest recently.

Rowan gave a fantastic solo performance of her song 'Femme Fatale'. While she didn’t progress this year, we are so proud of her talent and she is already looking forward to next year's competition.

Sierra and her band, Pipeline Punks, brought the house down and have advanced to the Regional Final! They will be playing at Totara Street on Friday, 26th June. Tickets are still available!

Last week we welcomed a local police officer to the school to speak with all year groups about navigating the digital world safely. The presentations were tailored for each group, covering Seniors in Period 1, Years 9 & 10 in Period 2, and Years 7 & 8 in Period 3.

Our students engaged in some really important learning around social media and online gaming, covering critical topics such as:

- Cyberbullying
- AI image manipulation
- Sexting and online extortion
- The latest stats on gaming in NZ
- Exactly where to go to get help when things go wrong

A huge thank you to Constable Lis, for sharing such vital, eye-opening information with our students. We encourage parents and whānau to chat with your tamariki tonight about what they learned!
