Oroua Downs School

Oroua Downs School Oroua Downs School: Challenging students to become successful community and global citizens. We are a rural school located 28 km west of Palmerston North.

Our roll currently stands at 106 and continues to grow. We have a great teaching staff, bringing many talents and skills to our learning space. Our school takes great pride in its approach to learning, with a focus on wellbeing. We also encourage and compete in as many sporting exchanges and events as possible, as our students are highly active and very skilled. We are lucky enough to have excelle

nt resources around our school, with two swimming pools, a great playground, good sized fields, and a small hall that is a dedicated student space. Oroua Downs School is a great place to have fun, learn and follow your passions. Join in the celebration of great things happening and keep up to date with Oroua Downs School.

13-years-old is the rule for having Facebook accounts so we are not expecting to find any of our current pupils on here. This space is for parents, staff, friends and ex-pupils - anyone who wants to hear more about the great place our school is!

Cross Country Info (from the newsletter) .......

We are gearing up for our school Cross Country, this time next week. Our students have been practising and the anticipation of this event is building. As shared in previous notices, our Cross Country will be split into competitive and non-competitive this year. Massive thanks to our competitive senior students, Miss D and Ms O for mapping out the track and organising the event this year. The competitive event will begin down Lake Road, the track is quite different and a lot more challenging. Parents and whānau will be able to have the best view from Lake Road, we will guide you on the day. Year 0-3 and non-competitive runners will have their course on school grounds - beginning at 10:50. We will have a small break after that race has finished and then the school will move to the location down Lake Road to start the competitive races, Year 7/8 will be first.
Spectators are most welcome and will not need to be on the track, which means our tamariki will have a great experience with lots of support. We thank you in advance for your support with these changes.
The Te Kawau Interschool event is at Bainesse on the 26th June.

Exciting news!
We have a great group of students working with Miss Zee to be librarians.

Next week, we will have the library set up as a quiet working and reading place with a Mac computer for research, chess boards to work the brain out and amazingly supportive student leaders rostered on the care for this awesome space. We are aiming for it to be open, for those that wish to utilise it, during lunchtimes.

These student leaders will also get a cultural point for their badges at the end of the term.

I wonder who is getting their badges at our special assembly on the 2nd of July.

Always a superb show - good luck everyone
