Celebrating Music at HNI. Music allows us to feel the feels and express ourselves.

Check out HNI's homage to the music of generations!

I Wanna be a Rock Star!
The sound of my strong voice echoing around a cheering stadium, I wanna be a loud rockstar,
The sound of my expensive leather boots thumping on the hollow wood, I wanna be a rich rockstar,
The exciting electric feeling surging through my pumping veins, I wanna be a crazy rockstar,
Knowing that no-one being able to stop what I say, I wanna be an unstoppable rockstar,
The thrilling view of the fans encouraging me to play hard, I wanna be a confident rockstar,
Feeling the bright spotlight gleaming over me, I wanna be a shining rockstar,
Hearing the strings on my favourite guitar humming, I wanna be a talented rockstar,
Hearing the deafening roar of the giant crowd filled with people, I wanna be a famous rockstar.

This June, Havelock North Intermediate is proudly supporting Jammies for June by collecting donations of brand-new pyjamas all month long to help keep children warm this winter (These can be dropped off at the office or to the classroom teacher). To celebrate and boost our fundraising, we will be hosting a Pyjama Day on Thursday, June 18th, where students can come to school in their favourite pyjamas in exchange for a gold coin donation. We will also screen a fun movie in the hall during lunchtime on the day, with delicious popcorn available for purchase. The gold coin donations and popcorn proceeds will go directly toward purchasing even more pyjamas for the charity, and we would love your support to make this event a massive success!

🌱 HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO TE MATA PARK! 🌳
We are delighted to celebrate Te Mata Park’s Schools for Trees programme for being named a global winner in the Green Flag Award International "Best of the Best” Awards! 🌍✨
Our students love being a part of this initiative. Every planting day is filled with enthusiasm and energy, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the beautiful ngahere (forest) restoration project.
Thank you, Te Mata Park, for inspiring our students and letting us be a part of this award-winning journey. This international recognition is richly deserved! πŸ’š

🌿 International recognition for Schools for Trees 🌿

We are incredibly proud to share that our Schools for Trees programme has won a Green Flag Award International "Best of the Best" award. The programme won for Best Local Community/Grassroots Project, placing it among just four winners selected from entries across more than 20 countries.

Since 2021, hundreds of local students have rolled up their sleeves to help restore Te Mata Park, planting and caring for native trees in their own dedicated school plots. Through this mahi, they are developing a lasting connection to the whenua and becoming the next generation of kaitiaki for the Park.

The international judging panel recognised Schools for Trees as an innovative, low-cost model for building future environmental stewards while restoring native biodiversity.

This award belongs to the many people who have helped make the programme a success. A heartfelt thank you to our participating schools, students, and teachers, and funders Trees That Count and Hawke's Bay Foundation for their support along the way.

Ngā mihi nui to everyone who has been part of the journey.
