🎉 A WOW moment for Rauawaawa!🥰 🌟

From Waikato to the World stage!

We’re thrilled and honoured to be Finalists in two categories at the 2026 Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards hosted by Ageing Asia🙏❤️

Humbling to be selected from over 400 entries across 16 countries for our mahi celebrating the Kaumātua Olympics, and in 2026 we proudly host our 20th event with our long-time partner Rototuna High School and sponsors and supporters Te Rūnanga o Kirikiriroa and BUPA!

A heartfelt mihi to all applicants and finalists, and a very special mihi to Katrina Bryant and her Taurite Tū team, as well as Questral, for also being finalists and representing Aotearoa on this exciting global platform.

A wonderful achievement that belongs to our Kaumātua, rangatahi, volunteers, sponsors, stallholders, hauora providers, iwi and team for helping drive and host such beautiful events since 2005💗

What a beautiful night! the 2025 Waikato Business Awards ✨

Here's the video we got to see for the first time, created by the Chamber and INDX Media (Ariana and Borden), voiced by our very own, Manutahi😎

Rauawaawa was privileged to be showcased twice on the night, as a finalist alongside these Waikato giants🙏🙌🎉

For Purpose, Congratulations Braemar Charitable Trust (winners) & ConnexU 2020 Trust.

People’s Choice, Congratulations Volare (winners) & Tolbec Hearing Clinic. - A huge mihi to all those that voted for us 🥰😘

While we didn’t bring home a trophy, we gained something just as important: visibility, awareness, and appreciation for the many whānau and businesses in Waikato that are leaders in their industry, recognised internationally and transformational here at home.

A special thanks to our wonderful mentor Sir John Gallagher for guiding our journey to join. and the innovation of our Waikato social enterprise partners (since 2020) Mike Williams & Georgia Fulton, MWDesign - Hamilton & Tony Rutz (Active Plastics) for our Kuki Reka Kani - cookie cutters (www.buyreka.com). Since 2024, our international partnership with Ivan Goh & Fann Lee ( QuantumTX ) and Professor Alfredo Franco-Obregón ( ) for the BIXEPS health technology (www.mitocharge.com).

Our heartfelt mihi to the team, Rob, Heather and Rebecca for your guidance, Amanda and Jono our lovely judges and everyone involved in hosting the awards including the legendary Duncan Garner, MC - ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou❤️

If this exposure enhances our team’s kaha, builds confidence across our stakeholders, and opens fresh opportunities for our kaupapa, then having the privilege of just being part of these amazing Awards, has been a meaningful win for Rauawaawa and the Kaumātua we serve.

Congratulations to all our Kaumātua Olympiads that attended the day, everyone won, by taking part in the fun, laughter and whanaungatanga. Not to forget, braving the weather and the really tough competition 💪 with teams from the North, Central NI, East and West coming as challengers for the trophies🥰

A very special mihi to our champions 🏆

To celebrate 19 years of hosting the Kaumātua Olympics and get everyone ready for our 20th Kaumātua Olympics in 2026! "A Day of Movement, Learning & Connection at Rauawaawa Kaumātua Charitable Trust."

At Healthy Families Te Ngira, we are proud to partner with Rauawaawa Kaumātua Charitable Trust, our key holder in promoting the well-being and leadership of our kaumatua As our elderly population continues to grow, it is essential that we empower our kaumatua to take active roles within their whānau, serving as champions of quality of life and cultural heritage.

Recently, we had the privilege of gaining insights from Pare Meha, our systems innovator, and the incredible team at Rauawaawa. Their dedication to enriching the lives of our kaumatua is truly inspiring. The kaimahi excel in fostering engagement and activity, encouraging our elders to participate in stretching, line dancing, and waiata, all of which enhance both physical and mental well-being.

In addition to these uplifting activities, the day served as a platform for vital discussions surrounding the Local Government (Water Services) Bill. Many kaumatua voiced their concerns and opposition to the bill during an open forum, highlighting its implications not just for themselves but for their wider whānau. We were pleased to facilitate support for making submissions, particularly for those who face barriers due to limited access to technology and resources.

Overall, the day was a vibrant mix of laughter, learning, and connection spent with our beloved koro and kuia, who continue to inspire us all. A heartfelt ngā mihi to everyone who contributed to making this day so special! Together, we will continue to build a supportive environment where our kaumatua can thrive and lead with dignity.
