Trees For Survival 🌳
On Friday, 12 June, some of our Kākāpō tamariki had the exciting opportunity to take part in the Trees for Survival project at a Fonterra farm in Horotiu. The tamariki had an amazing day outdoors, learning about the importance of tree planting and the positive impact it has on our environment.
Throughout the day, they demonstrated excellent responsibility and resilience as they dug holes, planted trees, checked that their plants passed the "pūkeko test", and navigated the farm's slopes. It was fantastic to see the students embracing the challenge with such enthusiasm and determination.
We were also treated to a delicious sausage sizzle for lunch, kindly provided by the Fonterra farm owners. The students represented our school exceptionally well, showing respect, gratitude, and positive behaviour throughout the day. They should be very proud of their efforts and the contribution they made to helping our environment.
A huge thank you to the parents who generously volunteered their time to support the trip. Your help and support were greatly appreciated and helped make the day such a success.
