As we head into the week of Matariki celebrations at Hukanui, staff indulged in a shared kai to come together and reflect. Akonga are busy in classes preparing to share their mahi with whaanau on Wednesday evening from 5 pm. Manaawatia a Matariki.

Wow, our Hukanui School community is amazing! Our school food drive exceeded expectations this year and was gratefully received by Te Whānau Pūtahi Community Centre in Fairfield. Special thanks to our School leaders who packed and collected all the donated kai.

Our EPRO8 team went off to Rotorua today to compete. They came home, securing 10 th place in a tough final.

To support the Chiefs as they head into the finals, we are inviting all students to wear their Chiefs gear or team colours this Friday, 19th June.

Instead of a gold coin donation, we are encouraging students to bring in one item to support the final day of our food bank drive.
Donations can be given to your class teacher or put in the trolley out the front of school.

Anna and Michelle from Enviroschools visited our Enviro Councillors to explore what makes a Healthy Stream.

Students shared their ideas first, then investigated using real scientific methods inspired by regional council scientists, including a clarity tube to measure water quality. Together they learned about the “5 Cs” of stream health: clean, clear, cool water, cover, and critters, and discussed how rubbish, pollution, erosion, and habitat changes can affect waterways.
