If you do, it might be time to check in on your health.

💬 How are you really feeling?
💪 Are you keeping active?
🩺 When was your last check-up?

Today on International Day of the Midwife, we’re celebrating the incredible midwives who care for our West Coast whānau. 💙

From Karamea to Haast, our midwives are there for some of life’s biggest moments — walking alongside wāhine, pēpi and whānau through pregnancy, birth, and those early weeks at home.

On the Coast, midwives do it all. They travel long distances, show up at all hours, and build strong, trusted relationships within our communities. They’re not just clinicians — they’re educators, advocates, and a steady, reassuring presence when it matters most.

Whether it’s a quiet check-in, support through labour, or helping new parents find their feet, midwives help give our pēpi the best possible start in life.

This year’s theme, “One Million More Midwives”, highlights just how vital midwives are — especially in rural communities like ours.

To all our West Coast midwives — thank you for the care, dedication, and aroha you bring to our whānau every day. Your work truly shapes our communities.

Ngā mihi nui 💙
