This week, we celebrate the incredible people who make our community stronger through their selfless service.

At the Feilding Volunteer Fire Brigade, our volunteers come from all walks of life. They leave their families, workplaces, meals, celebrations, and even their beds in the middle of the night to answer the call for help when our community needs them most.

Being a volunteer firefighter is more than responding to emergencies. It's countless hours of training, maintaining equipment, supporting community events, fundraising, and always being ready to serve. It requires commitment, sacrifice, and a genuine desire to help others.

To every member of our brigade, past and present, thank you. Your dedication, courage, and willingness to give your time for the benefit of others does not go unnoticed. You are the heart of our brigade and a vital part of what makes Feilding such a special community.

We would also like to thank the families, employers, and supporters who stand behind our volunteers. Your understanding and support make it possible for our members to continue serving our community.

Have been completing at Manfield Stadium the past 2 days and today is the last day of national competitions..
If you are wanting to see the team in action you will find them at the controlled workpit from 11:40am. Each run last 30mins and it showcases the work we do out of the roads to help people in car accidents.

🚒 A Very Special Milestone – 25 Years of Service 🚒

On Saturday night, the Feilding Volunteer Fire Brigade had the privilege of coming together to celebrate an incredible milestone — 25 years of dedicated service and the presentation of a Gold Star to Chris Iwikau.

Twenty-five years is far more than a number. It represents countless callouts in the middle of the night, time away from home, missed moments, and a constant readiness to serve others when they need it most. It reflects a deep commitment not only to the brigade, but to the entire Feilding community — a commitment that has never wavered.

Chris’ journey is one marked by dedication, quiet strength, and an unwavering willingness to step forward time and time again. For a quarter of a century, Chris has stood alongside fellow firefighters, protecting lives, supporting the community.

But behind every 25-year milestone, there is a family who have shared the journey. A heartfelt thank you goes to Rachel, whose love, patience, and support over those 25 years has made this service possible. Standing alongside her are Lucas, Caleb, and Lincoln, who have grown up sharing their time with the brigade and making sacrifices of their own. This achievement truly belongs to all of them.

Chris, thank you for your dedication, your loyalty, and the countless ways you have given back to this community. Your 25 years of service have made a lasting difference, and we are incredibly proud to stand beside you in celebrating this achievement.

On Saturday night, our community came together in the most incredible way.

What started as a Fashion Fundraiser became a powerful reminder of just how incredible and generous our community really is. Through the passion, dedication, and countless hours of hard work from Kate and the amazing team supporting her, an outstanding $11,180 was raised for the Feilding Volunteer Fire Brigade and Manawatu Volunteer Fire Brigade

What many people don’t see is the countless hours, planning, stress, and dedication that go into creating an event of this scale. Kate’s commitment to giving back to the community is nothing short of inspiring, and her kindness and generosity will have a lasting impact on our brigade and the people we serve.
As volunteers, we give our time to help others during some of the hardest and most challenging moments of their lives. But nights like Saturday remind us that we are never doing it alone. The support shown by this community means more than we could ever fully put into words.

Every ticket purchased, every donation made, every business that contributed, every model who walked the runway, and every person who simply showed up to support the evening played a part in making this event such an overwhelming success. The atmosphere in the room was one filled with kindness, generosity, laughter, and community spirit — something truly special to be part of.

Kate, your generosity, leadership, and willingness to give back to others is nothing short of inspiring. You should be incredibly proud of what you created on Saturday night.

A huge thank you to everyone who brought along their electric blankets for testing!

We tested a total of 101 electric blankets — with only 2 failing the safety check. That’s a fantastic result, but also a reminder of just how important regular testing is.

Electric blankets can become unsafe over time through wear, damage, or faults that may not be visible from the outside. A simple test can help prevent electric shocks, burns, or even house fires during the colder months.

If you haven’t had your blanket checked recently, we strongly encourage you to do so before winter really sets in. Safety first! 🔥❄️

Tuesday 5 May marks the anniversary of the first official meeting of the Feilding Volunteer Fire Brigade with 25 founding members. Back in 1888 after several years of trying, the Brigade was formed by a number of like-minded community leaders. In the following 138 years, we have had 640 members join the Brigade to serve the Feilding Borough and Manawatu District.
