Arts Week continued on Wednesday with a celebration of visual and performing arts across the school.

Our annual Art Expo was open at interval and lunchtime, attracting a large number of students who took the opportunity to view the incredible artwork on display and cast their vote for their favourite artist. The exhibition showcased the creativity, skill, and dedication of our art students, with works spanning a wide range of media and themes.

At lunchtime, students were entertained by a lively TheatreSports performance, with participants demonstrating quick thinking, humour, and confidence in front of an enthusiastic audience.

The Art Expo then opened to the public from 5–7pm, welcoming whānau and community members into the school to celebrate the artistic achievements of our students. It was fantastic to see so many visitors engaging with the exhibition and supporting our young artists.

A huge thank you to our judges, Joanne Duff, Matty Rodgers, and former Visual Art student Rachael Telford, for giving their time and expertise to help select this year's prize winners.

Arts Week Day 2 saw another fantastic showcase of talent and creativity across the school.

At interval, Te Rau Huia performed, captivating the audience with their energy, skill, and cultural pride. Their performance was a highlight of the day and greatly appreciated by all who attended.

This was followed by our House Wearable Art competition, where students were challenged to create outfits based on the theme "Futuristic." The creativity, innovation, and teamwork on display were outstanding, with houses transforming a range of materials into imaginative and impressive wearable artworks. It was an amazing start to the Claybird shooting season in Woodville. We had 12 shooters competing in some rather testing conditions which did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm for the first shoot of the season. Everyone shot really well and it was great to see a number of students manage personal bests in different sections - 3 made the shoot offs for top 3 placings.

Team 1 came away with a score of 425/500 making them 2nd overall for teams, just 4 points off the top.
Cohen Newton - 1st in S***t
Connor Sowerby - 2nd in Single Barrel.

Hawkes Bay brought another awesome day of shooting for Round 2 of the competition. Everyone had a great day, there were a number of students who made the shoot offs and we had some amazing results across the board.

Daniel Voelkerling - High Over All 89/200, 1st in Single Barrel 20/20
Cohen Newton - 1st S***t 24/25, 1st in Single Rise 20/20
Connor Sowerby - High Over All Junior 84/100, 3rd in Single Rise 20/20

Round 3 of Competitions took place in the Wairarapa and proved to be a very challenging day for the team with the wind playing havoc throwing the clays around. There was an opportunity to give Sporting a go alongside the normal DTL which was a bit of fun that everyone took advantage of. All in all another great day out.

Results from the day:

Cohen Newton - 2nd in Sporting
Connor Sowerby - 1st Junior in Sporting
Both Daniel Voelkerling and Connor Sowerby received their 25 longrun badges.

Congratulations everyone!

At interval, our talented choir filled the quad with music, showcasing their hard work and passion. Then at lunchtime, one of our awesome student bands performed, bringing great energy and entertainment for the crowd.

Alongside the performances, students got involved in our House Pavement Art competition, transforming ordinary concrete into vibrant displays of creativity and house spirit.
