♻️ Funding Recipient: Ruahine Manchester Kindergarten

Waste Not Want Not funding recipient, Ruahine Manchester Kindergarten made great strides towards reducing lunchbox waste by making their own yoghurt.

The initiative saw tamariki get hands-on in the kitchen, preparing yoghurt, developing their cooking skills, and bringing plenty of smiles to their faces.

The project was embraced by both children and their whānau, with positive feedback and some whānau even starting to make their own yoghurt at home.

As a result, the kindergarten reduced its rubbish by a whole wheelie bin for collection. How’s that for a reward for the kindergarten and the planet! Not to mention the delicious reward for the children.

📸 Indie Stickle enjoy their yoghurt (2024) and whānau's comments about the initiative (2023)

Thank you for your paw-some support, Manawatū! 🐾💗

As Council’s Animal Control team manages the increased interest in their dog adoption programme, the kindness of our community continues to shine through for our furry friends.

📢 The team would like to say a massive thank you to the generous donors across the Manawatū District!

Donations such as food, blankets, toys and support with foster care make a real difference, helping keep animals comfortable and entertained during their time in the animal shelter.

A special shout-out to PAWS Animal Shelter,NZ. and SPCA Manawatū for their incredible support recently, generously donating dog clothing, collars and food.

You’re paw-sitively amazing! Your kindness is off the leash, and we’re fur-ever grateful 🐶
