Age Concern thanks you immensely for your time, friendship, and commitment to the Visiting Service. The time you give is precious to those who need it most. Volunteers are essential to our service and without you we could not provide the care and support we give.
You all go above and beyond and we fully appreciate you. Thank you!

To our Wonderful Meals on Wheels drivers Thank you so much , your dedication, care, and kindness make such a meaningful difference in the lives of so many in our community. Every delivery is more than just a meal, it’s a smile, a connection, and a reminder that someone cares.
We are so grateful for everything you do each and every day. 🙏

💜 It didn’t start with something big.
It started with a neighbour popping in.
A GP asking one extra question.
A friend noticing things weren’t quite right.
A quiet phone call: “I think I need help.”
Last year, over 3,000 older New Zealanders took that step and asked for support.
And when they did — things began to change.
✔ Safer homes
✔ Restored dignity
✔ Stronger connections
Elder abuse can feel isolating, but no one has to face it alone.
This Elder Abuse Awareness Week, we’re celebrating the small steps that lead to big change 💜

💜 What keeps older people safe?
It’s not just services.
It’s people.
In Otago, it looks like:
✔ Whānau checking in
✔ Community groups speaking up
✔ Professionals noticing the signs
✔ Older people finding the courage to reach out
Last year, many cases were reported by friends, neighbours, and community members — people who chose to act.
That’s what prevention looks like.
It’s not always dramatic.
It’s everyday care.
This week, we’re celebrating the communities that stand beside older people — not just when things go wrong, but every day.
💬 Who looks out for you — or who do you look out for?
