Nau mai, haere mai, Te Hiwa whānau!

Get ready for a day packed with action, goals, and house pride! To celebrate this year’s Football World Cup, we are transforming our field into a festival of football.

We warmly invite you to come along and cheer on our tamariki as they take to the field, with everyone getting the opportunity to participate throughout the day. Our students will be living our school values in every pass, tackle, and cheer:

Kia ngā whetū (striving for excellence): Pushing hard, giving 100%, and shooting for the stars (and the goals)!

Kia tūtika ai (taking responsibility): Turning up on time, looking after gear, and owning their roles on the field.

Kia mahi ngātahi ai (actively collaborating): Working together as a team to pass, defend, and succeed.

Kia mana ai (showing respect): Supporting peers, playing fair, and respecting their opponents and referees.

Show Your House Colours! - Children are highly encouraged to wear their house colours on the day! Let’s make the sidelines vibrant, celebrate the houses we belong to, and make it easy to spot our team players on the field. Which colour will your child be wearing?

Orion – Green

Pegasus – Yellow

Phoenix – Red

Aquila – Blue

Thursday 25 June - Match Day Schedule - The action kicks off with our youngest players and builds all day, wrapping up with the ultimate showdown! Drop in for your child(ren)'s session(s):

Kakano - 9.10 - 9.50

Māhuri - 9.55 - 10.50

Akeake - 11.45 - 12.40

Tī Kōuka - 1.45 - 2.45 - refereed/managed by student guests from Te Oraka Shirley Intermediate School.

To end the day, we’ll have a grand finale - The student invitational team vs. the kaiako/kaimahi (the staff!) Can our student superstars out-collaborate and out-play the teachers? You won't want to miss this final 15-minute epic clash!

Whānau, we need your voices! Come along, celebrate the world game, and help our tamariki shine. See you on the sidelines!

Ngā manaakitanga - with kindness,

Matua Brad on behalf of the 2026 Student Leadership Team

Talofa lava,

Unfortunately due to the restrictions at the Christchurch Town hall and the large number of schools that are performing at Sau Ia Festival this year the number of children in groups had to be reduced to 50. Previously we had taken Year 3-6 students but this year we will only be taking Year 4-6 students. There will be other within school opportunities that give the whole group the opportunity to perform.

Information about the festival is on the attached poster. More information will come home soon. If your child is in Year 4-6 please buy a ticket to the festival by clicking on the following link:
