Will you check your smoke alarms this daylight saving, question?

1. Check your smoke alarms are working by pressing the button. The end of a broom handle is a great help! 🧹

2. While you’re there give them a little dust, a minute of maintenance could save lives!

3. Check in on elderly whānau or neighbours. Fifty percent of avoidable deaths in house fires are people over the age of 60. This is something we can change.

It's not rocket science, do it today 🚀

🪫 Know anyone like Pete? 😅

We all know a Pete. The moment there's a hint of uncertainty in the news, Pete's already backed the ute up to the servo and filled every jerry can he owns. Diesel, unleaded — Pete's not picky. He's got enough fuel in the garage to drive to Auckland and back. Twice. 🚗💨

And look, we love your enthusiasm Pete, but we need to have a little chat. ⛽🔥

Storing large amounts of fuel at home is actually a pretty risky move. Fuel is seriously flammable — even a small spill can turn into a big problem, very fast. We're talking rapid-spreading, hard-to-stop fires. Not the kind of drama any of us need!

Congratulations to our newest firefighter, Zane Hoyle completed his course this past week and has graduated to a yellow helmet!!
That’s three out of four of the Hoyle’s, one to go for a full set….😉

Last training for the year, went through ladder drill, got our new blitz fire monitor out for some familiarisation and a the recruits got a little wet at the end!!

The team and went and had some fun at Bluff Schools last day of the year!! Maybe a future fire fighter or two amongst this lot!!

Yesterday we hosted our kids Xmas party, big thanks to Santa for making the time to visit and all the elves who helped make the day enjoyable for the little (and not so little) ones!
