Wow – what a week last week was! 😅
We’ve been busy catching up on admin and trying to pick a winner for our T-shirt comp… and wow, that is proving very hard!
The talent in Blenheim is absolutely out of the gate 🔥 Every single design was beautiful and had so much heart behind it — we’re seriously blown away.
We’re getting really close to announcing our winner, so keep an eye out 👀 We can’t wait to share it with you all!

Youth Week is always a busy time for Marlborough Youth Trust, and this week was definitely no exception!

Following the debate came the unveiling of our “Garden of Voices” mural — and honestly… wow, just wow. What an incredibly special moment for everyone involved.

This beautiful piece of artwork represents exactly what Youth Week and this year’s kaupapa, “Our Voices Matter! We Deserve to Be Heard | Taringa whakarongo! Ki te reo o ngā taiohi,” is all about. Every brush stroke, every colour, and every detail reflects the voices, creativity, and whakaaro of our rangatahi.

As a manager, I felt extremely grateful watching this vision come to life. A massive shoutout to our amazing youth worker Canada Harmony — truly one of the sweetest souls — and to Alicia whose creativity and magic brought this mural to life. Together, alongside some very special helpers, they created something that will hold meaning for our young people and community for years to come.

There were also several rangatahi who really stepped up throughout the process, putting in time, effort, and heart to help make this happen. Seeing our youth take pride and ownership in something so positive was incredibly special.

And of course, special thanks to the lovely husbands of Canada and Alicia, who worked hard behind the scenes to help get the mural onto the wall. So much love, teamwork, and dedication went into this project, and it truly showed.

This mural is more than just artwork — it’s a reminder that our young people matter, their voices matter, and when a community comes together with kindness and purpose, beautiful things can happen. 💙 thanks to Marlborough Youth Council for supporting this and our awesome rangatahi Ara Taiohi - Peak Body for Youth Development , Rātā Foundation , Marlborough District Council, MVIP - Marlborough Violence Intervention Project , fans

If there was ever a reason to celebrate our rangatahi, Friday night was the perfect example.

As part of Ara Taiohi - Peak Body for Youth Development Youth Week and this year’s kaupapa, “Our Voices Matter! We Deserve to Be Heard | Taringa whakarongo! Ki te reo o ngā taiohi,” our young people truly stepped up and made sure their voices were heard loud and proud. The energy in the room, the laughter, confidence, and passion created an atmosphere that was unforgettable.

It was awesome to see principals, Police, political leaders, youth workers, and community members all coming together with one shared purpose — making sure our rangatahi know they are valued, respected, and supported.

To every young person involved in the debate — you were incredible. The courage, intelligence, and confidence you showed while speaking your truth was inspiring. Marlborough is filled with talented rangatahi, and Friday night was an epic showcase of that talent and potential. Marlborough Youth Council , Marlborough Boys' College, Aimee Payne, Stuart Smith MP,Matt Flight, Sean Jones ♥️

A massive shoutout as well to everyone behind the scenes who helped bring the event together, especially our youth worker Lee and the entire team from the debate group. Your hard work and dedication absolutely shone through.

Moments like this remind us exactly why investing in our young people matters so much. When rangatahi are given the space to speak, lead, and be heard, the future becomes something truly exciting. 💙
